Finish my first ultramarathon!

I ran the North Country Trail Run (50 miles) yesterday in Manistee National Forest, MI. The course was on a 25 mile mountain biking/hiking trail so we ran the loop twice. The worst part was finishing the first loop and realizing you had to run it again!!! I finished in 11 hours and 2 minutes. My whole body hurts today It will be a few days before I running or bike riding...Frankp

Congratulations on finishing, and well done

By the way...could someone come over this morning and tie my shoes for me? I never knew I could make so many muscles hurt at the same time...please pass the ibuprofen!

Wow! Congratulations! I love to trail run, but I can't imagine completing an ultra. You've earned a day off...don't even put your shoes on.

40 years ago and I used to run crosscountry for a club in the SE of England- My distance was 15 miles so 50 miles XC is an achievment. The only time I ran that far was on the road- London to Brighton-56 miles-and all I can remember was being given the Energy boost of a cup of tea and a salt tablet at around 40 miles.

Can't remember the route- The time it took me or anything really- All I know was as a 20 year old- I never wanted- or did- that distance again.

Well done-

Fo,

Great job. I'd love to do an ultra someday before it's too late. Saturday the 22nd I am doing a half Ironman in the Redman Triathlon in Oklahoma City. Somehow, that pales in light of an ultra.

Congratulations again.

I ran the Muncie Enduration (half Ironman) in July and it is a pretty intense event...changing from using one set of muscles to the other is tough!!! All you have to do for the ultra is keep putting one foot in front of the other! Let me know how it goes for you...good luck! Frank
