moving to montana soon ...

Ok, that's a Frank Zappa lyric about raising dental floss.

So I saw a Discovery Science show yesterday and became enamored. I'm thinking it would be a nice retirement career to move to Costa Rica and build bikes out of bamboo and hemp.

I'll just leave that one out there for now.

I'd stay away from Montana. I hear they have a problem with weasels ripping your flesh.

Is that a real poncho or a Sears poncho?

'Suzy Creamcheese' (she liked to 'nasty')

Or was that at a pancake breakfast, somewhere else?

That would be " at St. Alfonzo's Pancake Breakfast, where I stole the margarine".

After having done a bike tour through Montana this summer... not sure it's the place I would retire. Too many rednecks, large vehicles going way to fast and roads with no shoulders (but they all have rumblestrips!) and people who don't like cyclist... just saying...

That town is a sealed tuna sandwich.

Montana, my son lives in Missoula. He says if you are from California, you are not welcome.

Pamestique 12-05-07 12:30 PM

I got that message loud and clear this summer! :(

I live in Bozeman, and there are few rednecks. I moved here from California and there is nothing but friendly open arms.

While I love the nature, open spaces and Yellowtone Park, I gotta say, the cycling season is too darn short, and there are far two few paved secondary roads. But I also love winter, and the full 4 seasons.

All in all its a beatiful place. Darn hard to make a living though.

BluesDawg 12-05-07 12:50 PM

I may be totally wrong but I'm a ... dancin' fool

Pamestique 12-05-07 01:24 PM

This last summer, on my way to Montana I stopped at a friends house located in Island Park, Idaho. It's right at the west gate of Yellowstone. Now that was a beautiful place to live and riding through Yellowstone was just awesome. But my friend admits once it starts to get cold he's out of there. Winters up North are brutal! He's lucky enough to also have a lovely home here in Mission Viejo (CA). I do like Idaho alot. Might be a good alternative for me to consider for retirement.
