Ok.....many of us hate the trainer.....what do you do to keep from throwing it out into the snow.

I try music to set a cadence.

I've tried to watch TV.......as in news---nuke um..........sports----yeah, that works for about 5 minutes. (have you ever notice how little acutal football gets played per mile)......high value sports---golf, tennis, bowling, poker**********---nuke um.

Maybe Americas Cup racing---I could sympathize with a grinder.

Hey DG.....do you ever take movies of the boardwalk birds???

I'm in a regular training program where we use trainers in a group setting. This really helps.

The trainers are set up with power meters, so we take turns "taking a pull" where you would increase the power, do different cadences, etc. In addition, there is a "real-life video" setup which is similar to bike-o-vision, if you've used those videos. Together it makes for a pretty good and engaging workout. Check in with me at the end of the winter, though...

Sell it and use the money for something fun?

Hey, I am the one who started the trainer support group

https://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group...yguid=11846886

(now with 226 members) in a desperate attempt to make the process interesting, and who has those Spinerval tapes, etc., etc.

I just can't bring myself to use it yet this winter. Perhaps on some cold, blizzardy morning?

I'm not interested in any kind of training material. On the trainer I just want something to occupy my mind and help me escape from the monotany of spinning my wheel and not getting anywhere. Movies or music seems to work best for me. I'll use songs or scenes or time to vary the intensity of the effort.
So, I'm not looking to love the trainer, just to endure it.

Yup. An NFL football telacast lasts around 3 hours - usually a little bit more. A team runs around 75 plays so, counting both teams, that's around 150 plays. At 5 seconds each that's 12.5 minutes of actual football action per 3 hour telecast.

It's good that the commercials they show during the football games are so entertaining. I particularly like the one where the Budwiser dalmation "defects" into the Miller Lite truck.

But I did bring the spare floor pump down to the basement just in case I wanted to inflate those now flat tires!

Move - I have heard of trainers but never used one, plenty of places to live where you can visit snow even daily, no reason to live with it.
