“Hurt no one by thought, word, or deed, and take responsibility for your own happiness.”

If everyone did this it would be the end of all problems. No one would get hurt and everyone would be happy.

Reminds me of my 2nd daughter, when she was about 9, while on a trip to Florida, looked at me and said, "We living in Florida now! After all, we aren't dead in Florida, are we?"

But seriously, the Russell quote via Tom Bombadil sums it up pretty well for me.

A humble self quote of um two sentences.

I just hope to ride my bike a lot throughout the big picture.
Oh yeah, in my big picture...we all can afford a bike.

Now that I'm quickly closing in on 60, I was thinking about an appropriate philosophy for my soon to be age group. "Eat more fiber, take better dumps" is all that came to mind. Gads, I really am getting old. bk

OK, you can tell I've been thinking about this a bit. Given it's my third post maybe I've been thinking about it too much. And the more I think about it, the more I realize I can't really do this in one sentence. But, I can with the verse from the song I know via the singer Steve Goodman "The Ballad of Carl Martin."

You better get it while you can;
Yes, you better get while you can.
If you wait to long, it'll all be gone,
And you'll be sorry then.
It doesn't matter if you're rich or poor,
and it's the same for a woman or a man.
It's a mighty short trip from the cradle to the crypt,
So, you better get it while you can.

Wow, this is deep.
My favorite quote is "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make" from the Beatles. I just like it, I'm not sure why.
My philosphy is, try not to take life too serious, no one gets out alive. I have worked at the same place since 1979, so I am a very regimental guy. I work so I can play, and I never leave a vacation day unused. I would much rather spend $1000. on an expierience than an object. (except for bikes, lol). Love both my kids equally, and show them that I love my wife. I once heard "The best gift you can give your children is to show them you love your spouse". I hope I have done that. I always try to have fun, at everything. I think that's enough

Not 50+ yet but I like this forum.....

Every man dies, but not every man really lives. "Braveheart"

Seems many of the quotes have similiar meaning and these 3 words just came to mind.

LOVE, LIVE and GIVE........seems almost too simple.

We're embarassing ourselves, fellow travelers of Spaceship Earth. We're embarassing ourselves.

I was ready to post: "Give. Live. Love." I just copied that from my Diet Coke can, and I figured everyone would get a good groan out of it.

Dang if it didn't show up in earnest above. That's embarassing.

We're living our lives to the fullest of a Coke can. Pitiful.

We could be discussing Doesteyevsky or Blake or any number of people. Kudos to those who quoted Billy S. or someone.

To everyone else, especially those who quoted (Oh Crap) John Lennon or Kurt Vonnegut or someother dimwit:

It's cool with me. Just don't let our kids read this.

Why would Kurt Vonnegut or John Lennon be dimwits?

Since when does posting in a f****** bike forum constitute the breadth of "living our lives?"
