Vacation Ride report

Well I got back home on Friday night after driving 890 miles from Port Orange, FL. I left there at 4:50 AM. and pulled into my driveway at 6:55 PM. It was a rainy snowy trip, but the temp never got below freezing the whole time, it was 33 degrees when I pulled into the driveway. Not as nice as the 62 degrees that I had left that morning. It was nice to get a chance to ride my new road bike with out wearing 4 layers of clothing. Friday 1/25 rode 26.4 mi. in sunny 60ish degree temps around Port Orange and New Smyrna Beach, Sat. 1/26 only managed around 16.5 miles on a rainy morn. with a few members of the Daytona Bicycle Club on a ride from the Ormond YMCA up the Dixie Hwy. to a state park area, but we cut the ride short because of the rain. Sunday 1/27 got up early to ride with some people from the Daytona Bike Club again but no one showed up, it was still wet and in the high 50's at the time, I ended up cruising around a found some serious riders at the Port Orange Publix on Tomoka Farms road, these were all lean mean riding machines, I think I made it about 3 mi. before I lost site of them, I ended up doing 28 mi. Went home cleaned up my road bike, then cleaned up my Mtn. bike and did 9 mi. on it. Mon. 1/28 rode the mtn. bike 10.6 mi. on the Alexander Springs mtn. bike loop in Ocala National Forest, lonely and desolate, never saw a human being the whole time I was there, and I don't mind telling you, that ride wore me out. Tue. 1/29 31.2 mi. beautiful, in the 70's, rode from my Mom's place to the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse and then up to Daytona Beach, crossed back over to the mainland and came home. Great ride. On Wed. I visited relatives and on Thur. I walked 18 holes of golf, and got quite tired. Sorry this got to be so long winded.

So now it is back to the serious riding of getting a quick 25 miles in with 4 layers of clothing before the Weather changes for the worst.

Sounds a good holiday- Nice to get back home for a rest.
