Tom, bring back the old avatar!

Pretty please?

Tom Bombadil 02-05-08 03:55 PM

I have my new symbol!

I am the Bombadil!

10 Wheels 02-05-08 04:00 PM

Love The New One.
Keep it !

Condorita 02-05-08 04:33 PM

I liked Tim the Enchanter as TB's avatar. And the Classic Trek line under the user name.

This coming from a man who has changed his avatar how many times? :D I rather like the new one, Tom.

What's that got to do with it? I like his old avatar.

Nothing will ever be as good as the golden wings.

BTW, If I ran this lace you wouldn't be allowed to change 'em. Life's tough enough without one more layer of change and confusion.

maddmaxx 02-05-08 06:13 PM

Avitar's should reflect character.

Tom Bombadil 02-05-08 06:42 PM

What if one has no character?

maddmaxx 02-05-08 06:44 PM

Then one substitures something cuddley like a rabbit.

George 02-05-08 06:51 PM

I think it looks great Tom.

Tom Bombadil 02-05-08 07:01 PM

How's this?

Digital Gee 02-05-08 07:11 PM

If you're going to be in for a penny, then be in for a pound.

Only a man of character should use a Rivendell head badge as his avatar.

Those wings were classic! But I've liked most of his avatars.

No offense was intended... just meant that people should be able to change their minds. And, I guess I just thought of you as someone who has exercised that right a few times. So, my first reaction was to type what I did.

I like all your avatars, Tom. But this one is especially nice. I do miss the helmet one, though.

None taken. My search for the perfect avatar has taken many forms, and I consider myself a work in progress (or, as some have said, "a real piece of work, that one."). Hence the evolution in my avatarian history.

That said, I loved Tom's most recent avatar. I shall be in mourning for some time now, if he refuses to recant and bring it back. Sigh.

You are looking pretty buff for a work in progress!

TruF 02-05-08 09:19 PM

Someone else in the forum uses the same horny-guy avatar. You are too unique to share your image to the forum. :)

Tom Bombadil 02-05-08 09:29 PM

Well, when a company like Rivendell names a bike after you, you've got to give them a little love.

Oh! Is that the headbadge for the Tom Bombadil??? In that case, it's an even better avatar than the helmet. Perfect.

Is the Tom Bombadil in your list of potential bikes? When they first showed the sneak peeks at it, you said it was set up pretty much exactly how you would do it.

Too bad avatars can't be enlarged to full size by clicking on them. Then one could do a collage of well liked avatars as an avatar.:p

Tom Bombadil 02-05-08 10:28 PM

No, it's a bit too esoteric and expensive. A heavy'ish rigid steel bike with 650Bx52 tires going for $3000 or a bit more. The geometry is off for me too. But it would be a great, classy bike for a recreational ride, kinda like cruising around in a classic car.

If I had more disposable income, it would be a great addition to the stable.
