As you could imagine, the NYC greenways are basically unrideable. There are just too many people. In particular the west side greenway has many sections that are shared walk/ride/blade, and just forget about getting anywhere. There are sections where the walkers are separate, but the bladers are still with the bikes. Further uptown there are many fewer people, and maybe you can pick up some speed in sections, but certainly not over the entire trail.
