Move, or the kid gets it!

On the usual way home from work the other day I came to the place where the road narrows to practically nothing (no sidewalk, no bike lane, not much shoulder) as a kid was coming in my direction in the oncoming lane. He was on a skateboard. As Murphy would have it, all traffic was due to arrive 3-across at one certain spot at the same time. I could see this setup taking form. I could have stopped in my lane, but decided Iíd just nudge over to the right in time to allow oncoming traffic the room to let the kid have some room. The trash cans were juuust a bit too far in the street, and I swiped them as I went by. No biggie, Iíll just wax out the scratches some day.

Not. Holee smokes! Those cans are tough. I didnít think I was that close. Iím most upset at the automated trash truck, the way they just drop and move on. They donít care if theyíre out in the street, or even upright. Oh well, the kidís okay.

You are a good person for not getting angry at the kid. Now let go of it.....

......and don't listen to the mean spirits on this forum, either.

Uh, let me see if I have this right..you could have stopped but instead elected to try and squeeze by a stationary object in your plastic fendered vehicle?

I started reading this post with some reservations, and I'm glad to hear how it went. I think some of the members are getting the winter "no bike riding blues" and some of the posts are showing it. A little bondo and a few bucks and your car will be as good as new. Thank you for the positive attitude. I'll bet you bike in the same caring way you drive.
