    New bike blog

I've created a blog to post photos and reports of our rides. I was trying to figure out a way to share with my parents the pictures and details of our Memorial Ride for Randy last weekend without them having to listen to me babble on and on about all the details while they try to look at the photos. I decided that a blog was the easiest way to do this so they can read and view the photos at their leisure.

The first (and only) ride report there now is our memorial ride. Would someone take a look for me and tell me if you can view the photos? They are linked from my hosting site (Shutterfly.com). I'm hoping my mom can view them on her old iMac, as she often has trouble seeing pictures that are included in email.

Constructive criticism and suggestions are welcome.

    Yep.

Pictures and script readable and even the pics are in good definition. So no problems for your parents. If there is- It is down to user capabilities- or at least the Computer capabilities.

Edit And no suggestions or criticisms to be made.

Nice format. Did you put it together using a standard blog template, or did you code it?

Looks great from my husband's Mac with Safari. My only suggestion is that I wanted to see captions under each photo. Who are these people? That guy's wearing a 50+ jersey! Which one is that??

    Thanks everyone!

Tom: I used one of the available Wordpress blog "themes". Each one is a little different. I chose one with a custom header in which I added the photo at the top (that's Hubby on one of our rides last January). I did a little HTML coding, but you really don't need to know any HTML to maintain a blog. The editor provides a WYSIWYG tool, or you can use the code editor instead. You can also change the theme at any time, but you might lose one or more of the widgets on the page (the smaller text boxes in the sidebars) or the photo in the header if a new theme doesn't support them.

TruF: Thanks for your suggestion. I wanted to add captions as I was typing it, and I'm planning to do that. I agree, they would be helpful. The handsome guy in the 50+ jersey and the ubiquitous gray goatee? Why, that's my Hubby! On his left (in the close-up photo) is Tom (tombunn) who posts in the SoCal forum. We met him, Alice (alicestrong), and George (roadfix) for the first time that morning. Tom found me by my pink helmet... there weren't any others in the crowd. He did his first century just the week before. On a Roubaix.

I wanted to make some of the images smaller and place them side by side but I was having trouble doing that. I know most HTML because I have my own site, but I've either forgotten how to do that, or it doesn't work in the blog... I'll have to work on that. There are other photos but I didn't want to overwhelm the page.

Nice, Yen. It's easy to read and navigate. Is that alicestrong?

I've looked at it with both Firefox and IE. Looks good with both.

    Have fun with it!

Red Rider: Yes, that is alicestrong. She was a delight to ride with, very friendly and engaging. She helped to spread the word about the ride on the SoCal forum and round up other riders. I hope to ride with her again. Thank you for your kind words.

I've added a few captions and will add more during the week. Suggestions are welcome.

Thanks to those of you who left your comments, including a suggested correction (noted).
