i join the club today.
hi guys. today i'm officially over the hill. i'm hoping that means i can kick back and coast the rest of the way, though i'm afraid that won't be so. anyway, guess you'll be seeing more of me in here... the birthday wasn't much and i'm not super excited about the whole affair. but i did recently return to biking and now bike to work (university prof) and have been bitten by the c&v bug. in the last year i've bought maybe 16-18 bikes and have given several to my students. two favorites are my raleigh international and my moulton, an am7. but usually i ride raleigh sports around town, i own three of them...
anyhoo, thought i'd say "hey".

Welcome, Welcome. But don't count yourself as being over the hill yet.

It's sort of like joining a mafia family. Once you're in, you're in for life.

Quite a cast of characters here. They will help with whatever they can, and a bit gentler than the road forum.

howdy folks- thanks for the nice responses. i feel like i'm entering high school for the first time...
'roseskunk' is a dumb name. my dog is "rose", she's a chocolate lab pound puppy. my nickname is "skunk", not because i smell, but because since i was a kid i've had a beard, all black with a pure white streak on one side, hence, "roseskunk". i'm a professor of art, photography specifically. been doing it for years. i'm just getting back to biking but really enjoying it again. hopefully i can hang with you folks awhile... v

Sore saddle cyclist
Happy birthday!!
Be sure and start a thread when your neck, back or knees hurt. Complaining about younger riders riding too damn fast is always welcomed, as is any ride under 20 miles you'd like to gloat about. Have fun, but only if you want to.

Don't mince words
So far this decade is my favorite (I'm 53).
Glad you're back on the bike, and how cool you are to give away bikes to your students!
See you on the road!

There was a hill? Is that why I was so out of breath?

I agree! And to think when I was in college, I had to scrounge up my own campus bike . . . a rusty Schwinn Varsity. But is sure made it easier to get to class on time . . . OK, maybe a little late . . .

Welcome Roseskunk. The 50 Plus Forum is just like the Hotel California. "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave."
