Hate to have to say it But 100% agree.
Only ever played one at a Folk Festival and the sound of steel is almost as good as the Boreas.
-In my youth- I was into Folk music and if you played and were accepted you got in free. Didn't have my 12 string with me- but I was "Loaned" a Dobro. Nearly managed to swop the wife for it but she preferred the sound of the 12 string.
Pity.

It's a shame I can't do it more justice but I knock around on it OK.
Speaking of which, how come no one has commented on that video?
It's not *that* bad, surely...

So are you an official member of the Montara Mountain Boys?
The Funhouse video was good, although too dark to really see anyone well. And what was all of the hamster talk about?

I am an official Montara Mountain Boy, yes.
Mrs S shot the video with my Canon SD600 Powershot... tough lighting conditions.
The hamsters? Well, first off, I have some strange friends but as I said: "This is a song for all of us hamsters spinning the corporate wheel..." or somesuch thing.
I am not lucky enough to be retired yet, so I spin.

I build custom basses and other stringed instruments.....and teach guitar building.... what is it with musicians and bicycling??? i seem to know a lot of each.
since I make sawdust for a living, I've turned to an earlier addiction: british motorcycles...... if my wife wasn't looking over my shoulder, I'd tell you that I haven't quite finished the total re-build on a 71 Norton Commando (I'm about 700 bucks away from being done :-) AND am about to buy a rolling basket BSA Lightning (or two) ..........
As for bicycles, I just re-fell in love with my '83 team fuji which I got as a present for getting my Masters' degree WAY back then. i just put it back together after about 10 years. It's set up with a single speed 42/18 and is now my main commuter bike. My hi tech cannondale is sitting ther collecting dust.....but very soon I' setting it up as my summer road bike with a 44 16 single speed... (I'm completely hooked on single speeds)
oh... and I need a high geared mountain bike to leave at my daughter's upstate vermont house, where there are NO flat patches of ground at all. you're either going up or down!
go figure

Karl, any truth to the rumor that Woogie Fritzmeyer is your cycling coach? Interested bassist/cyclists want to know!

But I like Fool better.
Since we are posting music, I just found a video of me jamming with some good friends about 2 years ago while we were barbecuing a hog. We were making it up as we played.

Nice! Real nice... You on harp, I'd guess?
Ah, yes... Fool. That is a special, special song for me.
I can't tell you how much I appreciate your liking it. Thank you

Yes, thanks. I'm the harp player. Only had a mild case of GAS for harp gear. I have a custom leather belt holding 8 harmonicas. Lots of harps, all 10 hole diatonic, most Lee Oskars. A couple of tube amps. A keyboard amp that doubles as a PA. A few microphones.

Yah, musicians and cycling. I see this lots. I have perhaps 200 instruments. Oh, I have a music store. Maybe that makes a difference!

Ahh the venerable Woogie Fritzmeyer...... I'm speaking with a 'Bottom Liner!!!!!!" What's your bass player 'handle?'
as you know full well, since the flaming nostrils broke up, Woogie has gone into a self-induced exile and his lifestyle isn't what could be considered healthy! He calls me, usually with a half a litre of Jamison's under his belt and God knows what else... ranting about his next solo album.......
I tried to get him out on the bike and that was a complete waste of my time!
maybe after his 15th rehab stay, but i doubt it!
and thanks for the nice comments about some of my sawdust.......

Gas
SKT,
1st - enjoyed the video!, you look like you are having a great time too!
Funny I noticed this string today, I was just thinking about the same thing (GAS and now bikes) the other day. I don't have any "REAL" expensive guitars, but they are more than I can justify at my skill level. On top of that, I got sidetracked in the guitar thing, and started buying and fixing up old tube amps. Well, that was on top of my existing hobbies which included photography, woodworking/carving, others too numerous to mention and (gulp) flyfishing! Oh, yeah motorcycles (only ONE though!).
I am keeping the bike thing as low key as I can, I figure I need to put a lot of miles on to justify any better equipment, but as my son and I were starting to notice the other day (after buying some cycling jerseys, rain jackets, racks, packs, shoes, etc.) ... the bike is the CHEAP part!

hey bluesdawg..... nice jammin!
you're what we call round these parts a tasty harp player. too many of the local guys don't know when to play and when to hang back and think the whole song should be their solo! Everybody knows that only the bass player should be able to solo over the whole song!
just kiddin
