I KNEW it would fit

Though I must admit, we didn't have much room to spare. The important
thing is...we've got our new to us toy home.

Yes, we definately made use of the tailgate.....

This baby's heavy so we chose to use our quick release floor mount rather than
our quick release on the bar. I need to get a sturdier quick release mount
for the Yakima bar, like maybe a Yakima Boa.

The picture's not all that good, but you can see I just reversed the
Yakima towers (non-rain gutter type) and they grab onto the siderail
of the Tacoma beautifuly.

For the next few weeks the bike will rest in the garage...we'll post pics when
we finally take her out for a ride.

Happy Trails

That is one seriously nice looking bike. You're going to love the disc brakes, you've already seen one advantage - they take zero effort to mount or dismount the front when you use the QR carriers. I'm jealous!

You'll need to buy a long bed truck next time

Enjoy the new toy.

Very nice bike! Congratulations on getting her home. She looks ready to go, sitting there in front of the garage doors.

Interesting looking bike. I've never seen a tandem recumbent.

What in the world is that white stuff around our house?

That baby should count as +2 in the new bike thread. We're all eagerly awaiting the first ride pics.

Congratulations! Will that new bike displace a vehicle to fit in the garage?

Or perhaps an addition on to the garage? Or a ramp up onto the truck bed?

You could run the tandem kitty-corner in the truck . . . fork mounted toward the left, angle the bike to the right with rear tire resting fully on the tailgate. Use bungies to keep back end from shifting around as you turn.
How heavy is it? Guesstimate from us is close to 60 pounds.
It'll be a scream going downhill; uphills your legs could be screaming!
That is a l-o-n-g 2-seater!
Enjoy the ride TWOgether!

Oh that's just typical North Coast late March early April weather. Lake Ontario
affects our weather quite a bit and the lake stays cold for a long time into
what most of the country enjoys as Spring time. It'll warm up by and by.

Yes, that will work too. Actually there are a few options for transporting
with the truck. I just picked up a Yakima Boa for the Yakima bar, plus I'm
entertaining thoughts of mounting the bar on the cab roof. The bike weighs
about 60#.

Nothing has to move out yet, though it is getting rather crowded in there.
I sense some carpentry in the immediate future. Please, no negetive comments
about the finish on the MG...I feel bad enough about that already.

I'd be thinking about a way to haul it backwards. That would keep the dead bugs from collecting on the useable side of the seat backs. Maybe bolt a fork mount to a 2 X 4 and anchor it in your truck bed some way. It'd be easier to load that way too.

So, is there a Mrs Stapfam on the scene? I'm thinking that long term lounge storage is going to require some serious negotiating and several MAJOR concessions.

Hee hee, I'ld have to knock a wall out just to get it indoors. My wife puts up
with a lot, but I doubt if she would allow that!!!!

Hey Lenny,

I was reminded of this event today and thought you might be interested too.

A couple from the Rochester Bicycling Club are presenting the travelogue from their cross-country trip by tandem 'bent. To my untrained eye, in the pic I saw today, their bike looks a lot like yours. It's Wednesday April 9, 6 or 6:30 pm (I forget which, but can double-check if you like) at the Eisenhart Auditorium at the Rochester Museum and Science Center.

I"m going to try to get there. Lemme know if I should look for you.
