Thanks for a great forum.
Riding my bike is not the only hobby I have. And I used to post on anouther forum. Went there today for the first time in a long time didn't take long to remember why I left. Nothing but a big click and if you are not in you are on the outside. Thanks for a friendly place to talk about something I love to do ride my bike.

I believe that credit for starting the 50+ branch of BF goes to DnvrFox. After that..........well folks who are 50+ just sort of have their heads screwed on right.
Thanks Dnvr.
Thanks Dnvr.

Fourthed. (or was that fifthd?) This section of this forum board is proof positive that internet forums don't HAVE to be horrible places to hang out.

While I started it, that is now ancient history (08-24-04) , I have (purposefully) faded into the background, and the forum is now exactly the sum of its participants. Given how the forum is working, I'd say the participants are pretty great. Well, there ARE a couple . . . but they haven't been around lately.
By the way, here is the initial "vote" for and against starting a 50+ forum (many no longer participate):

Are you having memory problems again?
You didn't "vote," but here is what you wrote:
"I'm going on 62 and I definitively vote no.
I think there are already way too many sterotypes regarding older riders. Go to any bike shop looking for a new bike and watch them trot out all of the "grandmother" comfort bikes. I think that if we keep age out of it, we'll have a better chance of being treated as individuals rather than as a part of some age group."

I think that it's cool that all of those "Yea sayers" have gone by the wayside yet I'm still here.

Interesting to hear the history -- thanks, Dnvr. Personally I view about four forums here at BF -- some for encouragement, some for helpful tips, and some just for the entertainment value. I'll let you figure out which is which!

The thanks should go to the current participants, who, amongst their combined orneriness, make this a great place.

interesting to see If I was in at the beginning- I always felt I joined just after the forum started.
Any current members that are on the list can highlight their name aswell. Just so that the new members know who to send the PIE to.

This is pretty much the only place I venture to, occasionally
recumbent and tandem but mostly here.
A reiterating thank you to DnvrFox for initializing this and to
everyone else for keeping it working.

Great history lesson. Now, let's all go over to Rogues' Gallery and remind ourselves who we are. This is the only forum I read. I get more information and entertainment here than I can handle anyway.

Thanks very much to all you original 50+ cyclists who started this sub and kept it going. I certainly enjoy being here - even if it gets cranky once in a while. He!!, I get cranky once in a while ;-p
