How bout this weather!

I just can't believe the weather in NY this spring. Another sunny day in the mid 70's with low humidity! Usually in mid April its rainy and cold - I'm grumpy and fat and waiting for May. Oh crap! did I just jinx it!

I rode another 30 miles tonight - average speed is up 0.7mph (still 1.5 off the mark from last year), 2 out of the 10 lbs of winter belly fat is gone and I'm feeling great. Started riding into work this week as well. If I keep this up the summer ride schedule may actually be possible.

Yeah, it's been nice here too. I've been getting in some nice rides, but along with good riding weather comes good grass growing weather...which means work.

Cool and damp here in Sunny Virginia. Good for the cabbages, potatoes and other early crops I've got in the ground. Not so good for cycling.

Kinda makes up for the weekly Ice Storms we had here in Upstate
throughout Feb. and early Mar.

Most unusual though very enjoyable. I generally HATE April. As a rule the entire
country seems to burst into Spring and we are still hunkered down and trying to
thaw out. Not the case this year, and I'm loving it.

My recovery is somewhat slower than yours, but I'm coming along. I'll soon be at
last years fitness level...of course I wasn't all that fit last year so it's not all
that much of a challenge.

Happy Trails

Yeah. How about it. Snow and ice every morning this week. Bare and dry by afternoon, but so what. My bike's at home. And I've got a 300k brevet this weekend. S'pose to be sunny and 60, so I guess I'll look forward to that.

STILL windy here. Last three days max gusts of 45 (52 at the university), 35, and 33 (Sun, Mon Tues respectively). Supposed to gust to 40 today. Seems like the jet stream has it in for us this year.

We just came back to Michigan from a two-week vacation in Charleston, SC, and it's warmer up here (and has been) than it was for us in SC! I'm glad I took Monday off work and got in my first ride of the season.

The weather has been bouncing around a lot here in SoCal. Cool last weekend when we were up on Mt. Baldy, but downright cold the next day on top of Oak Glen (mid 30's, fog, cold wind) and bone chilling on the descent off the summit.

Then nicer as we climbed Damnation Alley, and up to the mid-60's at the summit of Angeles Oaks.

Cool, but not cold on the club ride last night (low 60's).

I was in upstate NY (Beacon) visiting my son and he said that was the best weather they've have since last October. Returned home to SoCal lastnight and had to put my jacket on...go figure!! Next time I'm taking the bike. Looks like a great place to ride.

We got our 40 mph gusts today and a bit more. Supposed to snow and be windy on Saturday, the day a couple hundred collegiate racers come here for their conference finals. I'm supposed to officiate. Hope they bring outrigger skis for their bikes! I'll wear my winter boots (if the forecast is correct and they actually race, it should be about 20 F up at the start) et al!!!
