Ohhhh.. I am feeling it today
Felt fine on Sunday after my 50 miles on Saturday.
Had gig... stood and played in my cowboy boots for a couple of hours. Felt a little leg weary after that.
Was feeling OK yesterday so I went out for a nice, easy 16 mile ride around town.
Climbed easy, kept my gears (and HR) low pretty low.
On the way back home, the local gendarmarie were diverting traffic up this short, little climb (1/10 mile @ 11-12%) and, yes, that meant me too (he was actually quite apologetic about it). I was feeling good, so I danced on the pedals and flew up this little rise. HR stayed good, just barely tickled 150 for a moment.
I made it the rest of the way home, was still feeling pretty good -I mean, I did take it pretty easy- so I climbed up the hard way. HR stayed good, All was well.
Today, though.. hooo boy! My legs are alive.
And not necessarily in a good way
My thighs are definitely a tad sore and they are twitchy.
Not a very good recovery ride, I guess. Think I'll take the day off.

You might want to try a couple of miles of easy spinning--I find that when I've got that "OMG what did I do to myself" feeling in the muscles that it goes away once I'm warmed up, and what's more doesn't come back. Also, in the next week, I'd say there's a good chance you're going to feel more power in those currently sore legs. Beware--it's an addictive sensation!

Yeah, me too, really... it means I have pushed myself beyond my current limits and yes
More power?? Oh yeah, that's what I'm talkin' about, baby!

Now I have been reading a lot of articles in mags about the "Repair" of overstressed muscles and Protein is highly recommended. You now have the excuse for taking the wife out and having a good meal as part of your recovery. Steak- Fish- or if a veggie there must be an alternative.

Personally, I think the ride yesterday was a good idea. You were going to hurt today whether you rode yesterday or not, so why not ride? Pain is good (that kind anyway )

I also am feeling it today but you can really learn from this mistake.
Going down a 15% grade at maybe 10 mph cause there is a joining road at the bottom. Released my rear brake hand to swat a bee around my nose. Really dumb part is not releasing the front brake and you guessed it, before I could react my weight shiffted and I am over the bar doing a 180 to the pavement. Tore up one of my favorite jerseys along with my pride and shoulder.
Possible broken collar bone, will find out in the AM.

That kind of pain I can do without.
Hope it turns out not to be broken.

if you are not sore at our age in the morning after a ride like that, it means your probably dead. Couple easy days and you will be as good as new.
