I like all the little beasties, but prefer dogs. I like a relationship where I feel sure it is mutual.

Perhaps we need some responses here from those who like cats vs. those who like dogs as to the success of their marriages?

Personally, neither my wife nor I would ever have a dog or a cat, and our marriage is fine.

I don't mind a dog for about 5 minutes, and they absolutely LOVE me. As for cats, some are ok, but most not.

Like cats, tolerate dogs, not married.

So what does that mean?

Love all critters. Still married to the first wife. But on full moons she makes me sleep in the car.

Detest cats, can tolerate dogs to an extent but wouldn't want to own one, and Mrs. Catweazle feels exactly the same way.

I guess that means 'harmony' in one aspect of the relationship, at least!

Two cats, one my shop "helper" and one dog. Never have my wife and I been without at least one each cat and dog. Kids are grown now. Sorry Catweazle, guess we differ here but I would still love to visit Oz and ride with you.

I like dogs, especially Shelties. I'm just not ready for the time and energy one needs right now. Having said that, I also have to consider Jack Russell Terriers as one factor contributing to the end of my marriage.

We also had up to 7 canaries, various rehabbed wild birds and a tarantula. I really liked the canaries and learned a lot about life from them. The rehabbed wild birds were so cool and the tarantula was sooo weird. I think that the birds helped the marriage.

They seem to like me too.
They chase me all the time when I'm on my bike.

We have both. In general I'm a dog person but our cat is pretty cool for a cat. I'm married to my first and last wife.

Love 'em both and have had lots of both! We are down to one elderly cat, whom we love dearly. But we are mutually in agreement that after she goes, we're ready to be petless for a while.

I must be really flexible on the subject, since I like both dogs and cats, but I'm okay living without either one too. Our dogs got really old (for dogs) and had to be put down; our cats get in fights and put each other down. Such is life.

Now we have one cat (outside only), and that's fine with me.
