The kids are all right

This from my daughter just now - she's doing final high school exams in UK, going to Uni in September

so i was thinking about how i want to get around at uni, and what with the world burning up and all, i thought a bike would be a good idea, so i started looking for a cute one.

I think i found the prettiest one though, what's your opinion?

Those UK kids have such good sense, unlike Wild-In-the-Streets American youth.

Lucy asks, Lucy gets!

And I'm a bit intrigued by the Guv'ner on the same site!

I gave one a test ride at the Cycle Show last Sept. They had a short indoor urban circuit and about 30 of the latest and greatest urban bikes of all types. I rated the Princess at the best of them all, it has a really great ride and is superbly built.

Very nice bike. I'd buy one for my daughters if they wanted it.

Pashley makes good solid bikes- Try lifting one and you will find out.

Problem withg Uni's is that bikes will walk. Especially one with such character as this. Best Uni bike is a $30 garage sale one that fits and trash it. The worse it looks the less likely it will take a wander. And next best tip is to get a Kryptonite lock and Hawser.-Even if it is for a cr*ppy looking bike.

Indeed. The Pashley web site calls that bike "a whale among minnows."

Yep, I always stuck to low-end bikes for kids away at college. My daughter at UNC-Chapel Hill currently has our mid-90s Giant Option hybrid, which being a steel bike, has rust in several spots. But it rides very nice.

They're mockers, to quote a famous Brit.

Five bonus points to the first person who can identify the famous Brit and in what movie he said it.

I was thinking along the lines of The Who's "Quadrophenia". Oh well.

That pic is old enough...one of those young guys could be our very own stapfam.

They would be Mods- except the bikes don't have enough mirrors and there are not is not enough Fur around the anoraks. Attachments are of my brother in Laws 1966 Lambretta----- Rich Brother in Law. The scooter cost somewhere in the region of $10.000 to renovate. He could have bought a modern one for $5,000

(Rockers rode real bikes like Nortons- Triumphs and BSA. I rode an old AJS)
