Torque wrench to repair recumbent tandem to commute with Fooster to political rally to discuss the safety of proper nutrition while ordering from BikesDirect?

OK, you smart-aleky moderators, where are you going to move THIS post to?

Oh, that's a real knee-slapper, friend, if you consider violation of California Penal Code section 4A, 4207A, 597 and 217 "wising off on a message board" something to laugh about. Here's some free advice. Cut back on the Geritol and get back to your afternoon nap or whatever it is you people do.

Sorry for this outburst Someone lent me the Forrest Gump soundtrack and I'm afraid I listened to "Volunteers" one too many times.

I know. Cranky owns one. I just thought it might be too subtle.

<hijack>

On the subject of unusual tandems, came across this rig, and the folks who own it, on the Great Finger Lakes Bicycle Tour this past weekend.

She doesn't like DFs, he doesn't like 'bents. Solution? This Bent/DF tandem. The stoker, (she) rides up front and has a 1x9 drivetrain going to a freewheel, which drives the timing chain. The captain (he) rides in back, steers and has a 2x9 drivetrain. There are three chains total on this bike.

Also has four S&S couplers and a custom carrying case. Handbuilt by Bilenky, it tipped the scales at over $7K when new, several years ago.

I saw a tandem extremely similar to this just the other day. A front recumbent with an upright stoker. It was made by Hase. I chatted briefly with the couple riding it. They looked to be in their 60s. Said she had back problems which prevented her from riding their conventional tandem, so she rode on the recumbent half and loved it.

Actually, My wife and I ride a recumbent tandem which, according to my bikejournal.com entries, we've now put 4,400 miles on.
