Eventful day

Had to give a talk to a local garden society this morning. They must be getting bored with me by now but They keep asking me back. Must be because I am cheap. Did the talk and it took about 1 1/2 hours and just as I finished the talk- I Realised there were Paramedics all over the place. Apparantly one of my audience had a heart attack and I did not realise till I saw him being wheeled out on a stretcher. Didn't think my talks were that boring.

After this it was time to get to the LBS. On the ride last weekend I wore the thick padded shorts and at long last the padding has gone. Nasty time to find that out on a 50 miler. So down to the shop to order some decent Casteli Bibs. I know they are top of the range and top prices but I don't think clothing is something to skimp on nowadays. As I thought- He did not have the Casteli range in stock but suggested I look at the Giordana range. About half the price of Castelli but the quality is there. Had to agree so Bought them and got out quick before I found something else I don't need to buy.

Got home, tried them on and these are comfortable. I have always been a user of good clothing but this is my first time of buying quality. So out on the bike and see what they feel like. You will not believe how much more comfortable quality is over good.No slipping straps- no pad bunching up but that may be due to the newness of the shorts (Or age of the old ones) and more to the point-All the bits held in the right place.

So out on a decent ride tomorrow (I hope) Got to try out that pouch for the MP3 player. Just to see if it give me a better cadence for going up the hills.

Sounds like your talks are very exciting, not boring! Just kidding. Hope the person is OK. Can we expect a report on the new bibs?

Stapfam,

Sooooo, in addition to your public speaking I see you are now a catalog model. If I looked like that I wouldn't be posting in the old foggies thread.

+1 on Giordana. I have three pair and they are my favorite. Don't skimp on shorts. My rule-of-thumb, posted on these pages before, is that you should spend at least $1 per mile you want to ride. If you ride centuries, better spend at least $100.

Surprising what paint shop can do nowadays.

Those talks I give are on Alpine plants. I used to show them all over the country and worked my way up through the Alpine Garden society ranks to Champion exhibitor. That was many moons ago and I no longer show- but Alpines are still the main plant I grow in the garden.

And on the Member of the audience- It is not looking good. Severe Heart attack. What people will do to get away from my talks.

And first impression of those shorts- What Shorts? Feels as though I just have tight skin keeping everything in place.
