Hey Yen...I read the results of some study once that said women who exercise have very little to no problem with hot flashes...if you take stock in research studies.
I have had a very easy time...but that is daily exercise we're talking about...

Hey Alice! Nice to see you.
Yes, I think that daily (or almost daily) exercise is the key.
The woman who cuts my hair told me that one of her clients gave up her hormone pills in favor of lifestyle changes instead (healthier diet, no alcohol, regular exercise) and reported the same (or better) benefits than from the pills.

Alice and Yen:
You are doubly fortunate to be cyclist. Even as the flashes subside you will always have a brisk breeze provided by your choice of exercise instead of pills and a fan.

Although I do exercise well, and eat properly too, I was suffering incredibly from the hot flashes--and not sleeping, and not functioning well as a result. Tried some of the folk remedies (cohosh, soy, ginger) but finally gave up & had to get HRT. That is not perfect but has helped a lot.
I wonder if body build, & where one tends to store excess weight, makes a difference in how much exercise helps.

Mrs. Road Fan exercised (Curves and cycling) quite a bit, took soy, ginger and black cohosh (?), and still needed to wrap and unwrap quite a bit. She nurtured her passion for Ralph Lauren Sport and Adidas warm-up jackets, $15 each at TJ Maxx!
