Ouch! Do you know a good dermatologist?

George 07-14-08 05:36 PM

I ride just about every day in Katy and I've been using sun block. Like Louis said, I think you should see the doc.

gcottay 07-14-08 05:44 PM

Ouch is right!

Do you have that beautiful three-leafed plant down there?

guybierhaus 07-14-08 07:00 PM

my guess is 57 years.

Yep, I've had the same problem quite a few times. Mine usually goes away in a day or two. One of the causes of this can be medications you're taking. I always apply cold compresses to mine. Here's a website that has information that might help. If it doesn't clear up in a couple days you should see your doctor. He might be able to help prevent it from happening again.

Mine never hurt but it sure looks like h*ll:(

+1 Sometimes medications can make you more sensitive to sunlight. It happened to me but on my face. I swelled up like a pumpkin. I looked like a pie face.

It should subside in a few days. Soak in a cool bath for some relief. You'll feel much better. :)

Thanks for the response. It doesn't hurt. I only know it is there when I see it.
No Medications. It does go away, but shows up with Temps pasted 90*.

Not even close: 66 years

I get it from the Road Heat. Used to get it doing security patrols of parking lots. Tried back then using knee high socks. That didn't help. No Pain, itching or swelling.
Thanks for your response.

I did a 50 miler Friday in this heat and when I got back, you could fry an egg on my feet. I can't wait for winter :D

I am gong to STOP at Noon each ride. I like warm but over 90* is Not Warm. Hot Hot Hot.
Are you riding The Katy Flat Lands?

Tom Stormcrowe 07-14-08 11:31 PM

Looks like what happens to my arms if I get too much sun....

Purple blotches from capillaries rupturing. Looks terrible, no itch, no pain, just ugly. SPF 50 helps, but not completely.

grayloon 07-14-08 11:37 PM

Budreaux' Butt Paste...16% zinc oxide may help the rash. Though if its a sun burn like problem, aloe vera and products with aloe in the probable will help take the sting out. Sunblock or long pants may be the best preventative.

Budreaux's is good, AsMaster is great as well if you can't find the Assos product.

As Botto has affectionately stated, you can also use it on toast for a tasty snack.

We haven't had any high temps yet this year so I've avoided it to-date. It's supposed to get into the 90's this weekend so I may see it appear again:mad:

Mine usually appeared if I was on antibiotics or prednisone for poison ivy. I also found one brand of sunscreen that would cause the problem for me.

No, I'm going to Fort Davis for the Cyclefest and again in April to do the 56 mile race. The Cyclefest is on the 20th and 21st. of Sept.

I wonder if it's something on the road that your tires are throwing up at your legs and the heat just makes it makes it worst.

I ride in the heat everyday and take lots of meds and I'm ok. My face burns a little from the sun @ times.

Yes, I do get alot of road dust on the legs. But it is Just Heat over 90*.
I ride too much. Monday 80 miles Tuesday 86 miles with 104* temp on the bike today.

I would look up the definition and application of the "Recovery ride" concept. Sounds like you might be overtraining.

How do they look and feel today?

Otherwise, nice legs!
