Reluctant new member
Against my my better judgement, I will be joining this forum. I was planning on staying 19 forever but it just didn't last. So I am celebrating turning 50 with a double metric century on Saturday. I'll start out riding the Tour De Tonka, a 67 mile ride around Lake Minnetonka. Riding to and from that will add another 14 miles. I'll finish up the first 105 or so on the Cedar Lake Trail and The Midtown Greenway.
After that I plan a nap.
The last 20 will be out and back to The Hexagon bar for Surf Night -- Big Surf, The 99'ers, and The Heavies (from Chicago). If any of you are from The Twin Cities and plan to do the Tour De Tonka, drop me a line and we'll meet up at the start. Otherwise, get yourself over to The Hex and I'll buy you a Blue Hawaiian or a Mai Tai.
After that I plan a nap.

Was going to say if you are planning a double- then stay with the youngsters- but you saved yourself with the nap.

What's so great about 19? You couldn't pay me to repeat the years between 13 and 30, especially in today environment.

Welcome.
Embrace your seniority, it's a blessing. My hair's turned white (along with
the full beard), and I've learned that white haired people are readily excused
from behaving according to the norm. It's like being a kid again.

Welcome. You'll find quite a few 19 year olds here. Just don't be deceived by all the 50+ bodies they live in.

I would have stayed much younger too if I had managed to figure out how to avoid logistical problems. It occurs to me that one can stay 19 forever provided one dies at the age of 19. Given the alternatives, being over 50 is not so very bad.

I'm having a ball at 68. Swimming, weight lifting, bicycling, singing, walking. I've entered a modified tirathlon. I'm presenting at a conference next week in MD, have a new organization started that is catching on nationally, and I have been quite a factor in getting our ballot proposal for individuals with disabilities on the ballot in CO.
I've developed two recent power point presentations, and even did a movie for the web!
I've never been happier nor never felt better!
