Crash, Boom, Bam...
Wounded Warrior here... Planned to do a charity metric for Red Cross today named "Go for Blood" (didn't realize it was prophetic). First serious ride since recovering from patellar femoral syndrome of the knee from AOMM. 10 miles in, rider in yellow jersey (NOT PART OF THE GROUP) jumps to inside line into a double paceline we'd been in for 2-3 mi. (running 20-22mph). Something made him lock-up and swerve almost immediately IN THE MIDDLE OF THE GROUP, guy in front of me went down, I went down trying to avoid him, another rider went over me, several others down. Then he had the nerve NOT TO STOP TO CHECK ON ANYONE DOWN !!! JUST KEPT GOING 
Put some SERIOUS hurt on me and my bike. Carbon bars, rear deraileur (SRAM Force), rear wheel may need truing. will get the whole story after I hear from the shop. I truly did ride for blood. Lot of rash, major hit on the hip (like a "pointer"). But the knee seems fine.
Just a rant here:
IF YOU"RE NOT COMFORTABLE RIDING IN A PACELINE WITH PEOPLE YOU DON'T KNOW, STAY THE H**L OUT! YOU ARE A DANGER TO EVERYONE IN THAT GROUP, INCLUDING THOSE WHO HAVE BETTER RIDING SKILLS THAN YOU DO!!!
I'm gonna hurt a ton tomorrow.

Thats why I don't ride a tight paceline when I am not with friends I trust - and I always make sure I have an escape plan otherwise I let a bigger gap form, if someone I don't know is on my tail too tight I get out of the pace line as well.
Hope you didn't get too banged up and that everyone else is fine. This is the dangerous part of club riding.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that, PAlt. I've been in similar crashes caused by squirrelly riders.

Sorry to here about the accident. Sounds like your body protected the bike frame from serious damage...That's usually what happens in my experience but...small consolation.

Unbelievable!!! I'm at a loss for words.

Thanks to all for the good Karma. One follow-up I neglected to mention, especially for those who sometimes forget or purposely don't wear their helmet. The brain bucket hit the pavement, and I remember that happening very clearly in the blur of everything else. Cracked it clean thru, but it did its job! My wife and twin daughters will be sending a thank-you note out to Giro...
