After years of a different kind of suffering...

Inspired by Yen's Clipless Story it me...

For so many years, Mrs S has suffered through my G.A.S..
Some of you know what I'm talking about. That cold shiver the Mrs gets when you say:

"I'm gonna go hang out at the guitar shop for a couple of hours. There's this nice axe I'm curious about"

Uhhhh-huh.

Sort of like saying, "I've never ridden carbon before, I want to try this Giant out and see what it's like"

Oops! No, not talking about me, at all

I pointed out to Mrs S that I haven't said one thing about wanting any new guitars since I started riding.
She was quick to counterpoint that, no, because I spend all my money on bikes and bike gear now.

Oh well...

I understand completely! Unfortunately for my wife's sanity, I've bought an mtb, a roadie, AND another bass guitar in the last 6 weeks! Will I be buying another any time soon? I don't think so.

I know the feeling well. With me it's old toy trains, well not for the last
few years but when money isn't as tight that hobby will keep me busy
again also. Guitars sound sweet, but so does an old clockwork tinplate
Hafner or Marx screaming around the track.

I'm fortunate enough to realize I won't sound very good on any of it, so I stick with pawn shop guitars and refurbs...well, except for one bass, and two sets of congas and two sets of bongos (one for standing and one for sitting, you know) and the PA mains are new, and two of the monitors...well all my mics are store-bought as is my keyboard amp, guitar amp...um.....

Well, my bikes were new when I got them and so were my roller blades, xc skis. I can't afford anymore, so where do I fall in the addictive hobby puchasing category? I think I'll go write a song, since it's blazing hot and humid out right now. Oh, wait...I "need" a new saddle for my road bike, for when I finally am in shape enough to ride it. Oh and some yellow padded bar tape to match my criss cross (not sure why I care about that). Better make a trip to the shop. Oh and......

God bless!

Even harmonica players aren't immune to Gear Acquisition Syndrome. A spare harp here and there. A new model of harp here and there. Green Bullet and Astatic mics for the harps. SM-58 mic for vocals and a SM-57 for miking the amp. Keyboard amp for small gig PA or to amplify the Champ amp. Tube amps is where I have to practice self-restraint. I could spend a fortune on amps if I didn't make myself stop.
