Felt Z25 First Weekend Ride and Photograph

I took my first club ride on Saturday. We did 24 miles and viewed some beautiful countryside. Today I ventured out alone and did 27 miles. The Felt is a great machine. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Two weeks ago my weight was 220. This morning before my ride I weighed in a 213. I feel great and hope to continue with my weight loss and self improvement. I have enclosed a first time photo as promised. Thanks for all the suggestions and help. This is a great group of guys and gals.

Welcome, and congrats on the bike, the ride, and a club you like.

Where's the photo taken? Very pretty scenery.

Yes, we are a great group, aren't we?

The photo was taken at a place called Silver Creek around Richmond KY. In the eighteen hundreds there was a working grain mill located here. It served the local farmers after their harvest.

Congrats on the sweet ride!

That waterfall is beautiful. I'd be out riding every day with that kind of view.

Carbon fiber bike w/Dura-Ace components - you're pretty serious about this.

How does it ride?

I love my Felt too, I did 55 miles yesterday (longest ride this year) and I'm not even sore today.
I'll let you know how I feel in two weeks. We're doing the MS "Pedal to the Point", 75 miles to Cedar Point on Sat. and 75 back on Sunday.

Good luck on your ride in a couple of weeks. I have a lot of weight to lose and leg muscles to build before I can even think about completing 75 miles. I was off from work today. I got out early before the heat. I did 32 miles and my butt is sore and my legs are like jelly. I've completed 82 miles in the past three days. I'm new to cycling, I joined a local club for riding companionship an to gain riding knowledge.

Don't forget to keep me posted on your Cedar Point ride. "Ride that Felt like you stole it"

I promise to smile when I post my next photograph.

What a great place for a picture!

I love the bike and yes, you should retake the picture with a smile

I've found club rides are a good way to learn from more experienced riders. I seldom ride alone since joining the club.

Nice bike, spanky1, and great background scenery.

I'm at 165 down from my max gross tonnage of 225. It can be done. Keep up the good work, keep spinning, and keep the reports/pics coming.

Looks like a great bike.
Don't worry about the mileage. Keep doing what you are doing and the miles will come.
Nice scenery. Congrats on having the skill to walk out there on road cleats.

Yeah- for a bloke that has just got a new bike- and a great one at that- He looks a miserable bu**er- perhaps he took a step too far and got his feet wet.

Losing that much weight through diet and exercise is quite an accomplishment. Your story inspires me as well as other riders who struggle to lose weight. Thanks for posting.

Awesome, scenery and the bike is a real beauty. I grew up in Lexington, KY. I get back a few times a year to visit family. I love doing the Horsey Hundred ride there in the spring out of Georgetown. I'm sure you will grow stronger and lighter by the end of the year. You might consider the Old Kentucky Home ride in September out of Louisville. It's a wonderful two day event that will give you the opportunity to put some miles on the new Felt and meet some great people. Both events are first class and have that great bluegrass scenery.

Great to talk to a "HomeBoy". There is a two/three day ride to Shakertown in September. It's sponsored by the American Lung Association. I'm considering the ride if my legs and endurance improve. Thanks for the info on the My Old Ky Home Ride. I will go online and check it out. Thanks

Man, it's always cool to do very scenic rides like that and know the history and stories that came out of the places you go. I did all my riding in CO this summer and there are some really cool historical points you can ride to... and a lot of really sweet microbreweries to tour, haha.

Some friends and I did a couple long (like 50-75 miles) rides out and back to tour a few of the breweries like New Belgium. If you ever get out to CO find some local clubs in Golden or Boulder and you are guaranteed some spectacular scenery, and of course super challenging hills. It's like the perfect combo of amazingness and challenging-ness.

Sweet bike, it looks as if it's ready to race and you are holding it back!. Keep up the good work and you'll be "flipping that stem" in no time.

I'm a rookie and not familiar with the term "flipping the stem" what does that mean.

It's a term used for lowering the handle bar height by reversing the stem or removing spaces in the head set. Many of us, including myself with a Roubaix Expert, have purchased race bikes with a relaxed geometry. As we get fitter and want to ride faster one way to see improvement is to lower the bar height to become more aero while riding in the drops. I assume that as you continue to loose weight and make improvements you may also want to complete faster rides or be faster than someone else. At least that was my story when I began racing at 55yrs old this year. I've flipped my stem and took out a spacer so far.

The picture of the Z25 on Felt's site is your bike with the stem "flipped" from the way yours is now: https://www.feltracing.com/08/product...,1515&pid=8673.

Felt is putting out some great stuff. Not surprised to hear that the 2008 line is sold out at the factory. Picked up a 2006 NOS Felt FC1 frame and it is great.

Keep up the good work.
