Customer service from FSA
My FSA crank has been giving me minor problems for nearly 4000 miles. It gets a slight creaking / clicking noise and I have to retorque it. Lately nothing has made it quiet and I have been reading the forums for advice and lessons learned from others. Last week I called FSA and told them my problem. The guy who answered my call was very nice and knew what he was talking about. He told me what parts I needed and how to install them. I told him I was having a hard time getting the cap screw off and thought I would ruin it getting he off. He said he would send me one of those too. I told him my crank was out of warranty and asked him how much for the parts. He told me "no charge". It is nice to do business with a company that stands behind their merchandise and I will happily buy more from them in the future.

Thanks for the update as I have a FSA crank. I have 3000 miles on mine and everything is OK so far.
What year was yours? Maybe they fixed the problem for the 2007 cranks, I hope.
I read, about some people on the road sub forum, don't care for them.

That is good news about FSA's service. What model/year do you have? I have a 2006 FSA SL-K 50/36 compact double. Apparently in previous years (sometime before '06) there were some serious problems with these cranks which the company subsequently rectified. (So beware of cheap ones on fleaBay.)

I have a 2007 Specialized Roubaix, with the FSA crank. Just under 3000 miles and everything is fine.

Some companies have a good warranty/after sales service and FSA were never one of them. I think they have taken too many kickings over the last few years for their reputaion to be on the low side for their products- but from your experience- it sounds as though they have turned round and got their act together.

Glad to hear that you got good service. I'm more and more of the mind that good service often depends on the person you get. I've had numerous experiences with a given company and some of the service was excellent and some of horrible. Sounds like you got someone who wanted to actually help.

I had the same problem with my FSA crank on an 07 bike. Finally replaced it with a Shimano Ultegra. Now I have no more problems and do not need to retorque. I have not heard from the guy that wanted my FSA crank even though I told him of the problem. He said he had reseached the crank and knew of its track record.

Mine is the SLK and I am not sure if it is an 05 or 06. I took it apart last night, cleaned it according to the instructions and put it back together with the supplied loctite. I will repost if I have any problems.

Add me to that list, same experience. I was bummed, as it was a seriously nice looking piece. Replaced it with a Nashbar compact, no further issues!
