Field of Gold
Sunday morning dawned bright and sunny with temperatures in the upper
60's. A very nice combination fro a little ride and a great opportunity to
see how the new 140mm stem felt on the bike (I had swapped out a 110mm
to 140mm Saturday evening). There were very few folks out on the MUP but
those that were out were quite pleasant. I snapped a picture of this field
of Goldenrod. In it's day it was a corn field, long ago.
As I was getting back on the bike I noticed that some Morning Glorys were
growing along the chainlink fence which isolates the interstate. Here's a shot
of a blossom with the Sun filtering through it.
All in all it was a good ride, and the with new stem, the bike felt quite good.
Happy Trails

On my ride today, I rode past a golden field too ... goldenrod mixed with wild sunflowers. Very pretty. But alas, as usual, I didn't take a camera.
It was a perfect day for a ride. Temps were hanging around 70-72. Mostly sunny. I rode down to the town of New Glarus and they were having a festival, of which I had been unaware. Free hot dogs & free root beer. A car show featuring 50s & 60s muscle cars. Live band playing 50s & 60s music.
Put in about 25 miles total, including, gasp, 1 mile on a rural road! That's a real rarity for me. It was a great ride & day.

Great pics there COD.
Today was a century for me - good ride but they threw in west Mountain at mile 63 - 700' climb at 8 - 12% grade. Average speed was 16.8MPH. Will sleep well tonight!

Don't mince words
Nice pics!
Our golden fields of sunflowers have dried, withered, and many already harvested. The grapes, however, are hanging heavy on the vines. The walnuts are swollen; the almonds popping out of their husks. Harvest is near.

I also got bonked on the helmet by a falling, rogue hickory nut. It made a loud ker-thud, but no damage.
This was the first time that a bike helmet ever did anything for me.
