Fixed my noisy bell

So I use this style bell on most of my bikes as I tend to ride a mix
of residential streets and MUP's. The bell on my Volae tended to jingle
over every bump I hit and after I while I just had to take that sucker
apart to see if I could silence the unwanted jingles and yet still maintain
the functional integrety of the bell. It turned out to be a simple tool free
trailside fix. If there's any interest, I can take pics and post...it's just
a simple adjustment.

NOTE: The bell on my Volae is mounted at about a 45 degree angle and is
the only bell/bike that I've had this problem with.

Sure, post some pics. I need to get myself a bell. Any ideas where I can find myself a cheap bell?

Now that is not the cure that I expected to hear. I have attempted to use a bell on the MUP's but I get fed fed up with the noise of it every time I throw it a Ped that can't be bothered to hear it. Thought you had come up with a silent missile as it misses them and then dings its way along the trail for about 50 yards.

We even have a loud horn on the Tandem and if they ain't going to hear that- they ain't gonna take any notice of a bell unless it's causes a pain just behind the ear.

Walmart always works for me.....I'll take some pics and post them in a couple days.

STAPFAM: About 30 years ago I used to have a big Bugle Horn on my old schwinn
varsity. When I squeezed the bulb on that sucker, pedestrians used to jump right out
of their skin. Graet Fun that was.

It depends on your definition of "cheap" but Incredibells are affordable at about $10 for the 'Big Brass' model. They have the nice tone of real brass. I like the ones that give you two dings for each pull of the lever, not the ones with a clapper mounted on a spring.

Not at your LBS. Ask them to add one to their next order from one of their parts distributors.
