A headhunter contacted me about a job in Wisconsin last week. I think I'll just stay here in Virginia.

That's what happens when you live near the artic circle Badger Head. Time to get out the studded tires.

Brrr

Those that can (from the local club) have...gone to florida or the southwest or hawaii.
This is,after all, Buffalo New York I'm writing from.
For the rest of us,NRS offers a waterproof kayaking bib overall called hydroskinz which can get ya thru the nastiest of weather.
I'm fortunate..I love to creek kayak and canoe so I can do that when the weather gets too nasty for cycling.
Still, I wish someone would take me along to Fla. for the next few months.

I'm becoming something of a weather wimp the older I get I didn't ride Sunday because of winds in the 20-30 mph range with gusts up to 50 and I'm thinking of sitting out tonight's ride because of winds and showers.

It's looking good for the rest of the week. Temperatures in the 50-60F range and no rain. I have a two day bike trip planned for the weekend and hope the weather forecast is accurate

I have learned how to dress and ride down to 40 degrees or evena little lower but the cold does slow my riding habits.

The weather gets too nasty for cycling? When does this happen? I'm only 60 miles away and it doesn't happen here.

Arriving at work on a Saturday morning last March. You'll also note the snow in the background in my avatar.

First measurable snow of the year here was last Tuesday, 1/10th of an inch. Of course, it didn't stick. They're calling for more tomorrow and Wednesday. The ground is still warm, so it won't stick either. My studded snow tires will remain in the basement.

Didn't ride yesterday because of a combination of cold and wind, winds of around 25-30 much of the day.

But I do hope to get out on occasion, if the trails aren't snow or ice covered. Last winter it snowed early & often, stayed cold, and the bike trails were unrideable for the entire winter.

You are all going to be *very* jealous of my new winter commuting bike, if I ever get it back from the powder coating place.

What's the bike? I know you're on the west side of the Cascades, so it must be outfitted with pontoons.

Nice pic. And isn't that a Trek Portland you're riding? Looks good. Still waiting for our first snow here.

It's the old Stumpjumper in my signature line.

It started as a $100 project bike (a "winter commuter") but since it's now getting a $200 paint job I've pretty much blown that budget. Actually, when I bought new tires and fenders for it, I doubled the cost of the bike...
