Fact of the Day for 50+ers

Since we all have perfect memories, but occasional recall problems, I submit this as a running thread. We can share facts that we probably once learned, and may not recall. Now they'll be brought back to the surface!

A full moon is highest in the sky at midnight. A waxing moon is highest before midnight. A waning moon is highest after midnight.

I figured out these facts myself while commuting back from college at night.


Note that the Moon is getting farther away from the Earth each day. This is important. I did not figure this one out though.
