Why do really dumb ideas ...

Why do really dumb ideas seem so smart when you're really, really tired?

Usually when I get one of those really dumb but tired ideas, I have been fortunate enough to fall asleep before I can act on the idea.

You mean something like attempting to change a muffler after 9:00 PM only to find your have the wrong size clamps, after cutting the old muffler off with the angle grinder, and your wife needs to drive the car to work in 9 hours. Something dumb like that?

We wear mufflers around here, but they don't require angle grinders to remove them, unless they are really frozen solid.

This condition usually occurs after 6 or 7 beers.
Wheelie practice and beer does not mix well, although it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Like at the mountain bike race a few years ago when the wife walked out to the back of the circuit to watch the race from a different point. This was the technical section and I saw the wife out there. After a fast downhill- there was a log- about 18" high. The "Elite" class were bunny hopping this and I just followed the rest of the group I was with and took the longer route on the first two laps. This was the third lap and I was shattered, and I still don't know why I attempted the log. I did get an earfull when I finished the race for ripping my New jersey when I landed in the brambles.

Just thought I would show the wife how my riding skills had progressed from the last time she saw me fall off the bike at the last race. But it was towards the end of the 28 mile race.

No, but in order to be able to ride my bicycle I waited until late in the evening to start.
