I wasn't on board her until the seventies. However, the movie you are talking is used to THIS day as a sandard training film. I have seen it on numerous occasions and even on a Discovery channel special.

I had it really tough. Navy stationed on an Air Force Base. Yep, shore duty for my entire hitch. Although it was in Anchorage, Alaska.
