Further proof (as if any was needed) that youth is wasted on the young...
BikeForums thread of the day.

Hi,
My 65+ teammate said that to me (50+) last night. I took it as a compliment. :D Regarding the other thread, I read it earlier when it was much shorter. Really didn't think that much of the OP or his girlfriend. He'd have been better off writing to Dear Abby. |
Another product of Ted Kennedy's No Child Left Behind educational system. Sad.

 What an entertaining thread. Like a soap opera. Me thinks other things are going on with this couple.

I agree.
The girl friend told him to take the car so that he'd be back sooner. He told the GF to go **** herself. I'd kind of like to see a photo of the girlfriend before I decide which side I'm going to take. |
For those of us who came into cycling “after” we had been “married” or in a relationship for a long period of time there might be a reasonable excuse for such disagreements. Still they can be worked out. But for people early on in a relationship to have that kind of reaction that relationship is doomed. The GF is trying to establish herself as the Alpha dog and if the guy folds he will be unhappy for the rest of his life. You hear these same stories from Runners, Skiers, boaters, shooters and others that have these kinds of sporting hobbies or habits and they hook up with a non-believer. It simply isn’t worth the effort to save such a relationship. IMHO

Thanks for posting this link. It makes even banal office chit-chat about Angelina Jolie sound like Boswell's Life of Johnson in comparison.
I especially liked the post comparing the couple's text messages to the correspondence of Elizabeth Barrett and Robert Browning. |
