Yep, another one fell today... though I had my doubts.
I've always wanted to ride up Twin Peaks. Every city has its Lover's Lane and this is San Francisco's, I'd say
Some of the most spectacular views in The City yet no one sees them because they're too busy in the back seat.
I've shied away from it, thinking it was too hard a climb. Things change.
So, I set off and, with a gut full of two days' worth of "turkey with all the trimmings", it just took forever to get my legs under me. I was pedaling in the mud. Climbing out of town was just a slog... but I did get out. After the long glide down to my real starting point I now had to deal with the long climb up. Up to a whopping 870' or so. First, 1.5 miles of gentle up slope (2.1% average with 5.5% peaks), then on to the next leg, another 1.5 miles of an average 4% with some 8% peaks and then... there I was:
I started the climb... another 1.5 miles up and... not bad but what's ahead. Well, nothing as it turns out.
The climb was no challenge at all... sure it starts out at 10% but the whole second half is 5%.
No prob. Just fall into a rhythm and up I go. Did I say views?

Market Street and downtown. I work in there somewhere.
I don't have to tell you what this is, I'm sure

And then I had a snack and headed down the other side.
I just felt like exploring... you, riding just to discover with no set destination.
I haven't been on Haight in I don't know how long. Had to had to HAD to take this shot.
In the end, I set out to do 25 miles and got 30.5 with 2300' of climbing.
Got home and the door was locked. Sweet. Took a nap in my car until Mrs S came home.
Note to self: carry a key.
I'm running out of goals. Better make up some more.

Looks good! Though I can't imagine riding in The City.
If you'd have looked east, and had on your supervision glasses, you might have seen me at the top of Mt. Diablo.

Seriously, yeah, riding in SF requires a certain steely nerve or total lack of brains. Maybe both.
You just have to tune out the traffic but stay aware of the cars, if you know what I mean.
