Very impressive performance - a bit like I used to be able to do on a 25% grade using a 69" fixie, but that was 50 years ago. Ah, those were the days! 68 tomorrow and still pedalling, but I don't see much point in busting a gut nowadays.

And another issue involved in using the big ring to climb is that when you stall and have to drop to the little ring the down shift may not be too graceful and you blow up your chain while finding to be one with the pavement.
