Gene Autry was right....

...it's good to be back in the saddle again. After 3 months off from tendonitis in my shoulder following a crash and then tearing some ligaments when I stepped in a gopher hole playing soccer with my students. Spent a few weeks on the trainer, but yesterday started the year with my first road ride...about 10 flat miles in a very low gear. Some ice afterwards. This will take some time and patience, but I hope to do a moderately hilly century later this summer. That's it....just sharing my pleasure and relief at being back to a part of my life I had begun to take for granted.

For sure, we sometimes don't fully appreciate what we have 'till it's gone for a while. At 61, something I need to keep in mind. A friend just had his cycling life stopped indefinitely by a stroke. Anyway, this has re-stoked my motivation to get out there on these cold days.

Glad you're back. You got it right... get out there and ride while you can!
