If you don't drink coffee, you're crazy...

...or may become so. See NY Times article: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/24/he...coffee.html?em
"It could be anything. Scrap booking, high-stakes poker, or the Santa Fe lifestyle. Just pick a dead-end and chill out 'till you die."

I've been told I was crazy for more obscure reasons than this.

I read the article, and once again thought that Woody Allen in the movie Sleeper probably had it right.

    Woe is ME! :(

YUCK, I can't stand the smell or taste of coffee!! I spent 6 years between service in the USAF and USN and both swore, I'd:

    1. Drink Coffee
    2. Start smoking

I'm 53 and haven't done either in my life time so I guess they were wrong, now as to it's effect for mental wellness, LOL, I'm sure I might be "Living Proof", that the study has merit! My brain is 25, my body is 75 and the paychecks never get cashed You all enjoy the bean juice, I'll just keep on working on my 2nd. childhood

    Hmmm?
I wonder what these folks will have to say who do not drink coffee for religious reasons?
There are several groups who will not drink or eat stimulants.
BTW, I used to be a 10 cups per day guy. My aging stomach started protesting and I had to cut it down quite a bit.

I used to drink a lot of coffee, but seem to have lost my taste for it. I wouldn't even make it if not for my wife liking it. Maybe that's why she thinks I'm nuts?

I would drink coffee, but it eats a huge hole in my stomach lining. I drink coke for a caffeine/sugar jolt, which probably rots my bones... I take my calcium and hope for the best

Alzheimer's is evidently caused by diabetes of the brain. There are plenty of anti-diabetes lifestyle choices other than coffee, including exercise and a high-fiber whole foods diet.

A cup of coffee to start the day,
    More civil and reserved.
A cup of coffee to face the race,
    My sanity preserved.
    My day begins quite early,
    Much earlier than most.
    Without my morning coffee,
I’d not make it to my post.
If you should chance upon me,
    Before I’ve had my brew.
Don’t be alarmed if I should bite,
    Upon your backside chew.
Tread softly should there be no Joe,
    For my A.M. caffeine Fix.
I rely on it to calm my nerves,
And make me fit to mix.
    You wouldn’t invade a Grizzly’s lair,
A wide berth he’d gain, from fear.
So please show me the same regard,
Until the coffee cart’s been here.

Various studies have for years tried to indict coffee as bad for you; it just MUST be...

But nearly every one has found that not only is coffee not nasty, it's downright beneficial in many ways.

Good thing; I've been slugging it down on a daily basis since 1965 or so.

The article means nothing. I dislike statistics. There are other attributes that some coffee drinkers and non crazies share.

Correct. It's probably the most studied and tested food/drink on the market. I've asked my family doctor, my urologist and my oncologist if I should stop drinking coffee and all three have answered the same way: "WHY?"

So how crazy would I be if I didn't drink as much coffee as I do?
