Online stores in the UK.

With the £ dropping so low- you can pick up some good bargains in the UK if you pay in other currencies. Trying to save you money now but listed below are a few sites that I know will give you some good prices and have a good reputaion for shipping abroad.

PBK seems to be a favourite over in the US and they have good experience of shipping to you- and a good reputation.

https://www.probikekit.com/index.php

One that also has experience in shipping is Wiggle. Don't use them much myself though

https://www.wiggle.co.uk/d/Cycle/7/1/1/

Mountain bikeing and Merlin is my favourite for Hand Built wheels.

https://www.merlincycles.co.uk/

Plenty of others but these I can recommend from personal use.

Well worth checking out for pricing and if you can wait a week or so- may help the UK from sinking too far.

Over the last few years, ChainReaction cycles has been a good choice depending on the dollar/pound fluctuations.

The US site is : https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/D...FQSenAodhXavaA

Very recently I bought some XTR mountain bike pedals for $104.00 + $15.00 shipping. Lowest I could find on the US sites at the time was $180 + $10 ship. US orders don't pay vat or any other taxes.

About a year ago I got two pairs of no longer made XTR shifter pods for $80/pair less than in the US. Shipping was free then. These are huge savings.

I'd rather support US bike retailers, but at least I'm keeping it among Anglo Saxons and the Brits are always helping us out when there's real fighting to be done.

Sounds like a good time to put drop bars on my Jamis.

Carradice bags are also much cheaper right now direct from the factory than from a U.S. dealer.

Seat bags, handlebar bags, panniers, etc...

https://www.carradice.co.uk

Also you can get a handbuilt lugged frame from Bob Jackson for less than $600 delivered to the U.S....(check their "off the peg" frames section); compare with a Rivendell for $2,000 if you want to look at factory-built, lugged steel frames.

I've ordered a few items from Carradice directly and they ship incredibly fast. I always had the item within a week. Recently I ordered a Charge ladle saddle from Wiggle and received it exactly one week from the day I ordered it, and their shipping isn't much more than you pay here.

I forgot I have to order tape.

I'm going to try and change part of my order tomorrow for compression-less brake cable and I have to change out the brake lever from Shimano Sora to the one I have listed. I think it should turn out pretty good.

foska, for some humourous jerseys - but, alas and alack, they can't ship the Homer Simpson one to the USA.

I like the Randonnuer handlebars. They do put the brake levers at a funny angle, but I found it comfortable. Those brake levers are very good for v-brakes. I love their built-in quick release.

I'll have almost the same setup on my old Fuji when I "unfix" it later this year. Except I'll stick with my old favorite Suntour friction bar ends. I usually pick up my cables and housing from my LBS. Remember you'll need a little longer cable for the bar ends than you would for brifters.

I wonder if those Dura-ace shifters will work the the XT components. Probably should have asked that first.

They will work perfectly. The rear is a match to any Shimano 9 speed, road or mtn, and the front is friction and will work with any front derailleur by any manufacturer.

Thanks again, I'm looking forward on getting this done.

Some of my favorite British brands: Raleigh bikes, Sturmey-Archer gear hubs and of course Moultons.

I'm just amazed at the prices the British e-tailers are charging. Sidi shoes, Ortlieb bags and Continental tires are almost 1/2 the price of US e-tailers. How can they do this? With components they may be able to get OEM prices on large buys but I don't think it would apply here. In addition, the shipping is faster to the US East coast than from California.
