What a Difference
I went to the LBS yesterday and got my new Sidi shoes for riding. While I was there I talked to a guy that was a pro cyclist and he talked me into clipless pedals. I went back today with bike and got a set of shimano M324 pedals and used them today for the first time all I can say is this is great. Cannot believe the difference in my pedal power and how I felt after riding for 10 miles today. No feet burning like before and the back and legs are not sore at all. I know that it will take time to get really broke in to these pedals but thats ok I am a quick learner and I feel good as I didn't spill my bike at all the first time out with them on.

Get the fall over with is my suggestion. Find a pretty girl, stop bike, fall over while smiling at her. That seems to be the recipe here. That is of course assume you are male. Not sure what the females do.
In all seriousness, I have been riding clipless for about 10 years now, I have yet to fall over. My feet just naturally turn sideways to leave the pedals. Don't make them too tight till you get it right.

Since Joe Gardner and Heather are moving in this week (Joe as ex-owner of BF), you can expect me to fall over in front of them.

Don't listen to them! It took me over 3 years to fall down the first time.
I talked a friend into going clipless right before a century ride. He never even went more than around the block on them before the ride. Within 5 miles he declared that he would never ride without clipless pedals again. He didn't even manage to fall on that ride despite how tired you are at the end.

Well went out again today for a ride and I have to say I will never go clipless again either. These things are great and I do feel a bit more tired after a ride but it goes away quickly an I can't believe the amount of power increase it gives me. Today I was going into a head wind of about 5 to 7 MPH and it truely helped I think in overcoming the wind and maintain a constant speed of about 10MPH on the bike. I just geared down and keep moving, on the other hand my wife was having a really hard time with the wind and hated every minute of that part of the ride.

If you trade the M324s for a set of M520s you'll be even more blown away.

Just started yesterday with the M324 and don't think the wife would be all to happy if I got a different pair already. Any ways the M324 are going to double for me being uncliped when I go fishing along the rail to trail at the river here in PA. That was one of the main reasons I got those pedals. Other wise I would of got the M520 but I need the best of both worlds here.

They are the same pedal as the MTB serues with a frame added around the outside to support the foot like a road pedal. They make a surprisingly good compromise for those who want a road pedal with a cleat that allows walking at the pie stops.

I rub the A520s on my road bike (sorry, too much Bike Snob these days) but only because they look cooler. I don't think they rock better. The A530's really look clunky to me. Anyway, if I have a quick grocery store run, I rock my wife's Electra Townie so I never worry about pedals for short trips.
