Great grandson is doing fine.

My great-grandson had surgery on his stomach yesterday. By all accounts he's doing fine. He had pyloric stenosis which, I understand, means that the valve leading from his stomach to intestine had grown shut.

As it turns out my father-in-law (his great-great grandfather) had the first successful such surgery on the west coast (Seattle). At that time there were only 2 surgeons in the US doing such surgery. The other was located in Boston. One of our daughters had to have the surgery too so I'm thinking there might be a genetic connection.

Nothing to do with bicycles other than I hope to take the lad cycling with me when he gets a little older. He's only 5 weeks old so it's not likely to happen for awhile.

Good for him - that kids are strong and resilient.

We'll keep him (and you) in our prayers for awhile.

Good wishes to you all.

+1 I've got the first--or possibly second- bike already in the shed for my granddaughter.

Glad to see the grandson is doing fine.

I hope parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents are all recovering from the scare this young one gave them. I bet you forgot how scared you could be. Enjoy the relief, enjoy the baby, and start planing for the first rides. Best wishes to all of you.

Nothing is as frightening as a child undergoing surgery, and no place is as tearful as the pediatric wing of the hospital. I'm glad that all is well and I pray all will continue to be well.
