A 13 mile loop on a nearly perfect day for riding. The loop takes me past the Windmill Museum, seen in the bottom photo. They were unusually still today.

Due to road construction, my normal 20 mile ride has become a 30 mile ride the past few months. Hopefully the construction will be finished by June 3.

Our 20 mile ride, Sunday May 17th.
Here's a link to a specific photo album for today's "20 mile ride", just lot's of different rail-trails a few nice bridges, and some haming from US https://picasaweb.google.com/bjandjoo...12055903434418 IF it takes you to just our photo albums, then look for the "20 mile ride" titled album. For some reason Pisca will not let me "KEEP" a posted photo here on BF, I can post it once but then it's GONE, sorry! ENJOY

Had a 20 mile ride planned for today. Wife got called in to work early for a while.
So, we thought we'd ride early afternoon when she finished work.
Heavy, violent storms with hail in the area today so no ride.
As much as my road rash is hurting, that's probably not a bad thing.

I did 36 today. Was a bit windy and warm, but I felt good for the most part.
DnvrFox, I think swim workouts are great for the body. I did many run/swim workouts from Sept 2007 thru May 2008 while getting ready for two triathlons. I felt really good during that time, especially when I swam after a run. My legs felt better the rest of the day. This summer I think I will run and swim one morning a week before work, and ride two other days (I ride on Saturday and Sunday year round). Before in the summer I would ride three days during the week before work.

Mrs. HH and I did a ride on the Blakstone River Trail in RI on Saturday. They have finished the north end so now you can start in Woonsocket, RI and ride to Lonsdale, RI. It's a pretty 12 miles end-to-end. The weather was great and we enjoyed our normal blistering 13-15mph pace. The trail runs along the Blackstone River and in places between the river and what's left of the old Blackstone Canal. The south end in Lonsdale runs through a marsh were they build these beautiful wooden bridges that cross the marsh. This was only our second ride of the season because of our schedules and lousy weekend weather. All in all a great 24 miler. Next time I'll remember a camera.

Saturday's ride ended much earlier than usual when the BFFs called for our Saturday breakfast date about an hour and a half earlier than normal. Sunday's ride was a tour of Santa Ana and Tustin, beginning and ending on SART, but also including the Santiago Creek Trail, which I didn't even know existed until Saturday, and the Lower Peters Canyon Trail, in addition to a bunch of streets. 2.52 miles on Saturday; 42.9 on Sunday. The pictures are still in the camera.

Did a 20-miler Wednesday and another Thursday. Didn't stop for pictures, and even if I had, they'd likely still be in the camera.

Had to get a brake job done on the car. Shop of choice is 27 miles away, in another town. Strapped on the Bones rack, loaded up the bike, drove the car down to the shop, then rode the bike home yesterday. Got up this morning, waited for morning rush traffic to clear, rode bike down to get the car, drove back. Good rides too, avged 18 mph one day, 17 mph the next.

O.K. I rode about 20 miles today and during that ride I snapped this picture of the entrance to a local cemetery. They kinda look like little castles to me.
Near the end of my 20 mile ride I snapped this picture of a Great Blue Heron (I think) from about 80 to 100 yards away.
That 20 was so much fun that I turned around and did another 20 towards home.I snapped a picture of this tree about a block away from my house. The wife and I call them "Gum Drop Trees", but I think tey're more commonly known as Ruby Red Horse-Chestnut Trees.
A little closer view of the blossom...
That's it for recreational rides for a few days as my work week starts tomorrow, this week.
