Pleased by medical results today

I had my company medical today, feeding back some lab results taken 3 or 4 weeks ago. I'm always anxious about this, because I've been Diabetic Insulin-using for 35 or so years ago, and I don't want to see any complications - and economically, if there were any complications they'd be fed back to me together with an air ticket home!

So, anyway, weight 70 kg down from 75 in March. BMI 22 or so, well within normal. BP 120 over 60, fit enough. Blood sugar over the last 3 months well within 'normal'.

I was asked when I was diagnosed Diabetic. I said 1972. They said, no, not date of birth, date of Diabetes. They checked DoB, and said 'phew, don't often see this'. I said 'Bikes'. They said 'Don't often see that either'

Hope this doesn't sound like show-off, that's not at all my intention - I'm just very very chippy that things sound still to be going ok

So, you got that rare 'Bikes' syndrome. Good luck with that. Hope you're not able to cure it. Maybe you can find a Bikes support group. I've heard BF.net helps people with bikes syndrome cope with life with bikes.

that's good. Bike Syndrome will have to remember that one if my memory doesn't fail me due to Old Farts Syndrome.

wobbly good going! keep on trucking. sounds like the bike is really doing good things here.

David Kessler, former head of the FDA, has recently published a book on food and obesity in the US, and what we can do about it.

According to him, a diagnosis of Type II Diabetes is really a diagnosis of "you're too damned fat" (for the great majority of Type II's).

BTW - congrats on the success of your Bike Syndrome results! That's a great feeling, I'm sure.

Remember, there are still two things you never forget.

Riding a bike.

The other one can probably stay forgotten, it's not happening.

Obviously the cycling has had a lot to do with your fitness and managing the Diabetes but just think of the other effects it is having. Mobility is well above average for someone of our age- due to the cycling activity. How many minor ilnesses do you NOT have like Colds and Flu (Man Flu excepted) that lay your workmates flat. And God forbid- If the serious illness does come along- the fitter you start out- the easier you can beat it. And as to what it is doing to the heart-legs and lungs is worth remembering too.

Personal fitness has a lot to do with how you run your life so just remember that when you come across the overweight 40 year old that you have to work with.

Well done

Maintaining/improving your sense of balance by cycling will also help prevent Falling Down Syndrome.

I also have Bike Syndrome! look at what it did to me.

Fat and happy on 22 March 2009 at 267lbs

As of today 27 July 2009 239lbs

Where will it end?

I'm trying to get down to 200lbs ASAP maybe by the end of the year.

I'm not trying to pat my own back.....OK ...yes I am. I'm bad!

Check out Livestorng.com Myplate It has helped me a lot!
