I live in Richmond KY and the oldest chartered business in the state is 10 miles from my home.
The 'business' is a ferry across the Ky River at Valley View. The state repaved the road last year so the
ride is very smooth.
Here a a few pics I took today with my cell phone camera (yuk).

This whole Memorial Day Weekend here in Colorado Springs has been nothing but a "RainFest", On Sat. we gave up the idea of riding and went for a short walk on the Rock Island Trail and after about 20 minutes, we got DUMPED on hard, if not for our cheap orange ponchos and Aussie walk hat's we'd have looked like soaked rats! Today after a wet early morning, it finally quit for a short time (2hr. 30 min) so we hoped on the bicycles and rode loop towards downtown, over thru America the Beautiful Park, checked out some of the new construction on the bike path (changing from limestone to concrete) out of the park and south along Fountain Creek. We put on a lowly 19. 371 miles but at least we got the bicycles out!
We left the park and headed home via some back streets thru town (Road Ride!!) and hooked up with the Shooks Run Path heading north. Stopped at Safeway's for water and a cookie and then dawned the rain jackets for about 5 or 6 miles, the balance we took off the jackets and was escorted by "THUNDER" the rest of the way home. As we got the bikes into our 3rd. floor apt. the skies opened up and poured for the next 2.5 hours, rain is really pretty, when looking thru your picture window. Sorry no photo's can't risk the old digital camera being killed in the wet.

I took a 20 mile ride today, along the Jersey shore. I started in Ocean Grove headed south along Ocean Ave into Bradley Beach, then Avon, Belmar, Lake Cuomo (S. Belmar), Spring Lake and finished up in Sea Girt. There was a very strong head wind going south, south , East coming off the ocean. I was in my second or third lowest gears the whole trip out. I took a rest on a bench on the boardwalk in Sea Girt, and watched all the boats in the ocean with my Binoculars. The beach was kind of cold and windy, so not many girls in bikinis.
Going home I had that strong tail wind and was able to ride in the highest gear the whole way home. I was able to keep up with the cars, not bad for an old man. In Belmar there was this idiot woman riding her bike on the wrong side of the street. The street isn’t that wide between the parked cars, pedestrians, this bimbo wouldn’t move and I had to go out into traffic, fortunately there weren’t any cars behind me. Stupid tourist, no helmet and wearing high heels.
Other than that it was a great ride, worked up an appetite for tonight’s steaks.

It's a 20 mile round trip to the home where my mother lives from the hotel where I stay where I go to visit, and this trip's the first time I've done that on a bike (thanks Bike Friday).
A friend just checked it out on a map, and next time I can take a longer route too. Fun.

Drove to a small lake, where wife and I walked. Then I rode back. Along the way the cell phone rang, and my wife wanted to join me for a ride. As I was then near my house, she joined me and we rode to the Sprouts and got some fresh fruit and chocolate, and ate lunch at Subway, then rode home.
It was an exciting day!!

Here are some vacation pics I took last week. Location is Route 63 down a big valley east of LaFollette, Tennessee. Very nice reasonably clean shoulder through rolling hills with horse/mule farms all around and some tobacco growing. Folks at the Midway Market were kind enough to allow me to park behind their store to start my rides. It was a 28 mile round trip ride over to the Morman church in Speedwell, TN (unincorporated) and back and rides often began in a morning fog.
