A family breakfast ride

The day dawned bright and sunny, a perfect day for a ride. Our daughter is home for a visit from L.A. and we thought it would be nice to take the bikes down along the Genesee River Trail to Lake Ontario and then stop for breakfast on the way back. Being a Tuesday morning we had the MUP to ourselves, which was good as my daughter was still becoming accustomed to the bike, hers back in L.A. is a bit different than the one she's borrowing from me here at home. She rides a Yamaha R-6 in California and my EZ Sport is just a bit different.

The ride along the river was very peaceful and it being the first time my daughter has seen the MUP, she enjoyed it very much. When we reached the Park on Lake Ontario it too was all but abandoned. We all posed for a picture....

I then figured out how to greatly improve the picture...

After a leisurely breakfast we rode along the upper river bank towards home, stopping at the Bill Davis Overlook for a parting view of the Genesee below...

The ride was short on miles but very, very big on smiles!

Wow, you are a lucky man.

What did you all have for breakfast?

We've always been on the lookout for decent breakfast places with good bicycling routes from our house. I've always loved rising early, cycling to breakfast, and riding home. Recently we haven't done so well. The breakfast places have been either trendy and pricy buffets, greasy beyond my standards (and that takes some doing), or involved the use of roads that we don't care to ride.

Last weekend we stumbled onto a tavern in Defiance near the KATY trail that serves breakfast. It's about 18 miles from our condo so that makes for a pretty nice jaunt. I'll let you know how it goes in about a week, weather permitting. Lunch was certainly good.

All I'll say is that it's a good thing the daughter took after the your wife in the looks department. :D Looked like you all enjoyed the ride.

That looks like fun. Nice, easy peaceful rides with family are great.

With a good looking bunch like that, and sweet looking bikes like that, what's there to be Cranky about?
