Last weekend I did the south "half" of Skyline Drive, 112 miles. I was going to do the northern half last Sunday, but it was raining when I got up, so I bagged it.
Today (Saturday) I finished off the northern "half" (103 miles.) The northern half is tougher than the southern half, with more and longer climbs. I got caught out in a huge thunderstorm about a mile from the visitor's center at Big Meadows I tried to wait it out there, but it wasn't going to be done any time soon, so I just got back on the bike all soaking wet. I never did dry out completely, but at least the sun came out, and I finished the ride feeling pretty good, if a bit soggy.
This was my first ride on my new bike with Di2 shifting. Oh how I love it. Love it I do.

I enjoyed 60* temps and summer rain showers during a 45 mile breakfast ride along the Erie Canal this morning.
I'm preparing to take my lovely bride out to lunch and am already planning my afternoon ride!!

50K at the bike park I normally ride at. My wife only did 21 miles today and I didn't want her waiting too long in this Florida heat, so I cut my ride short.

3 Hours of Cycling..0 Miles
Rainy day in Maine so I sat and watched the Dauphine and the Tour de Suisse. After three hours with only minimal breaks I was afraid my legs would cramp up so I went out and took a two mile walk.

37 miles on the Screamer tandem this morning - a club ride. Weather has changed from summer to spring. Started at about 60F and ended the ride around 70F. Sunny. Very nice.

LOL, well kinda, we worked a "rest stop" for a "Night time" bicycle ride, (charity), called the "Starlight Spectacular", here in Colorado Springs, CO. last night. We had to be at the Stop, at 10 PM. Sat. night for "prep" work and set up. After a great time with all the 1400 riders and "pack up", we headed home at 4 AM, the city is "very" quite at 4 AM. but still very dark and chilly, got home at 5 AM. and hit the sack ASAP! Total miles: 18.

100k cancer fundraiser ride Saturday morning. Started out to ride 100 miles but thought better of it when the thermometer hit 90. I did learn a lot about electrolytes about half-way into the ride! Bonk!

Today’s ride:
Left the house at 6:30 AM this morning and rode solo on the Seminole Wekiva Trail to Mandarin where I do a loop ride to pick up extra miles. From there it was on to Panera for breakfast. I had my usual bagel and topped off my water bottles for the long ride to the horse farms. I did the scenic ride through Heathrow then Orange Avenue to the horse farms. I turned around about 3 miles north of SR 46 to head back and a deer crossed the road about 50 yards in front of me. After a water break I headed back to the Sylvan Lake Trail Head. After another short break I headed south again through Heathrow towards home. Stopped along the way at Panera again and refilled my camel back and water bottles. My on board computer hit 102 degrees and the actual temp was 95. Good ride but it was getting very hot.
Statistics for: 06/13/2011
Miles today: 62+
Mileage this month May: 474+ (on track for another 1,000 mile month)
Mileage this year: 4451 (63.5 % of my 2011 goal)
Over/under riding days 2011 vs. 2010: +8
Over/under riding days June 2011 vs. June 2010: +1
Over/under miles 2011 vs. 2010: +1308 miles
Average miles per ride this month: 52.7
Number of rides over 50 miles this month/total ride days this mo. 5/9
Metric Centuries this month: 3
Miles needed to hit my 2011 goal of 7,000: 2548, and an 8,500 mile year (would be my best ever) is not out of reach.

Yes I did ride today. Did 38 miles which included 3 laps around Stone Mtn. Not quite to where I was in 2003 but I'm getting there. FYI: 2003 and 2004 were my best summers.

24 miles, went to check out, "new additions" to the "Midland Trail" here in Colorado Springs, they've been "going" to add for "several years", finally looks like they've got started working on 2-sections to get the trail from America The Beautiful Park, downtown to Manitou Springs. Hope Manitou can find the funds to hook into the trail so you can get all the way to Manitou by MUP!

Road the Alabama Magnificant Bicycle Adventure (AMBA) from May 21st to 28th. Average temperature was in the low 90s. When we left Ohio on the 20th it was 64 degrees, quite a change. Great ride met many new friends. See pics at the following site: https://s885.photobucket.com/albums/a...20Trip%202011/

Another fast 40 miler completed this morning. Ideal weather for a hard ride today with 65f and partly cloudy skies. I'm back to riding 3 days a week, and the cyclist has begun to emerge.

Today’s ride:
Left the house at 6:30 AM this morning and rode with my friend Richard on the Seminole Wekiva Trail. We took the loop through Mandarin to pick up extra miles (about 4 ). From there it was on to Panera for breakfast. I had my usual bagel and iced tea and we topped off our water bottles for the rest of the ride. We did the scenic ride through Heathrow then Orange Avenue to Sylvan Lake road then west to the trail head. We took a short break at the trail head and talked to Cliff another rider that we see often on the trail. After our short break we headed south again through Heathrow towards home. We stopped along the way at Panera again and refilled our water bottles for the last part of the ride. When I came back out on the patio at Panera I bumped into Jackie Crowell who rides for the USA and TT1 women’s pro racing team. She had just returned from competing in the Tulsa Tough race which she won by the way. We talked for a short time about her trip then Dick and I headed home. You can read about Jackie here. She is a great person and a very good cyclist.

27 slow and easy miles this evening on my Sun EZ Sport. The temperature was low 60's but the sky was cloudless.
I often refer to the EZ Sport as "The Heavy Cruiser", which is what it seems like compared to the Tour Easy. Other times I simply call it "Red Bike". I guess that even though the bike has won a place in my heart it has yet to earn a permanent moniker.

Got out for a short but good leg opener ride today up on the BRP in wonderful 59º temps. If I could only ride in that weather everyday I might make Cat 1 someday. I should move to Belgium. lol
