Monday 8 miles, 11 mph average didn't feel too bad, so Wednesday aimed for 10 miles, 12 mph and beat it! 9.77 miles, 13.9. Now I want to maintain that for an overall monthly average, and boost it up again in June.

I get an hour before work to ride so am a little limited on variation of routes. Either stay in town where every block is either up hill or down hill (and kicks my butt) or thru town to the MUP. I ride at noon during the week so the MUP is pretty empty. Nice.

Maybe I should do a "hill day" (climb, pant, rest, climb...) and 2 "trail days" to combine strength with endurance?

On the ride home in the dark last night I saw something that has a head and face about the size of a domestic cat. It has ears almost as big as Bailey, and a tall thing body a little bigger (not heavier), than Bailey. The head looks to small. Some kind of exotic pet I think. ???

41 miles after work. Weather was warm with 75 to 85f Temps! The summer-like evening ride was grand, if a bit demanding.

11 miles for my first time this year. My goal was 10 and I would have settled for 6 but ended up with 11. It was great to get back on the road. After about 2 miles I got this second wind and it was like the bike was magic. I averaged 9.9 mph, 84 degrees overcast and a 5 mph wind. It was great.

Took the monstercross bike out for 25 miles of mixed paved and dirt roads after work. I'm trying to ride something every day to get points in the National Bike Challenge.

I opted to ride the bike to my Habitat for Humanity meeting this evening. Just awesome, crazy perfect weather. And it was still pretty light out when I got out of the meeting, which is a bonus, because I don't feel exactly safe in the neighborhood where the Habitat office is (even though there was a meeting planned, they had the front door locked when I got there).

A soccer game at the middle school field.

Dusk settles in.

I got in 15 miles and thought about getting more in, but I had to get home to take my dog for a walk.

Did a nice 30 miler rural ride this morning and a 12 miler on the MUP last night. 20-25mph south wind on both rides so I got some good exercise tucking in and charging into the headwind. Gotta find a few more rural routes so no matter the wind direction I can attack the wind at the start of the ride and then coast home. It's always a little disheartening to feel like you are king of the world on a mad sprint at the mid point of the ride and then have to grind it out on the return leg.

Didn't ride today but did an upper body workout instead. Apparently yesterday I reached my anarobic threshold and for the rest of last night my metabolism was like a run-a-way train. I had the AC jacked down there was frost on my TV. My wife complained so I opted to take a cold shower instead. I was burning calories for 6 hours after I got off the bike. I had Korean noodles W/seaweed and pork dumplings for lunch and that laid me flat on the sofa the rest of the day in a comatose sleep.
Can't wait until I get back on the bike in a day or two.

I left the house about 5:30 for what was going to be a quick ride before supper. Felt pretty good, so I put in 22 miles.

46 miles, with a strong head wind on the ride home. I'm tired but not as tired if I did this 2 months ago.

12 Miles and a Nail

...or is that, Three Men and a Baby?

Went to try out a different 14 mile route this morning and 12 miles into it got a roofing nail through the rear sidewall in two places. I'm about done riding that particular stretch of highway (not the first flat along there for me). Must've been a perfect hit to catch and actually penetrate both tube and tire twice on the sidewall. Oh well... it was a decent 2 mile walk home. I had a tube with me, but by the time I replaced it and devised a boot, I would've been halfway home, so I just walked it instead.

Had to take the wife to work today, so I got a late start and did my usual 30 miles. In the middle of the last lap, I was thinking of doing 45 but by the time I did the 30 miles, it was really getting hot. Temps in the upper 80's low 90's already and it's not even summer.
