Rode 18 miles with a couple of guys from work. The wind was blowing pretty hard, but half the time it was behind us.

13 dirty dusty miles with 25 mile an hour winds. Toughest 90 minutes I've had in a while.

Don't mince words
Sunday: 80 miles, 5900' climbing, gorgeous weather, legs fried afterward.
Today: 32 miles at recovery pace (did 2 wicked-hard trainer workouts T & W) in the lovely NorCal spring weather. Simply gorgeous conditions.

Beautiful day in NE Ohio today. Clear blue sky, little wind and 35 degrees. Season's first race is tomorrow so today's ride was 1.25 hrs of easy spinning and avoiding snow melt to keep the bike clean.
SortaGrey, be using my Sorrel's ice fishing on Sunday and Monday then I'll put them away for the season.

March 5, yes, another beautiful day and I am loving it.
Temp in the mid 50s when I left about 11AM. Rode 31+ miles. Wind was out of the N @ 9/11 so it was no factor. It was a beautiful sunny Florida day. Not a cloud in the sky......
I have got to step it up as I am only tracking at a 6727 mile year so far.
31.64 (s)miles today
113.01 (s)miles this month
1177.11 (s)miles this year
39 ride days TY vs 35 ride days LY
6322 miles needed to hit 2010 goal (7500 miles)
321 miles ahead of this date last year

002.jpgIt was a great day for riding today with above freezing temperatures and plenty of sunshine. We rode 33 miles and stopped at our favorite coffeehouse for lunch. We had to bypass the few miles we often do on the trail as it's still covered with ice and snow. The roads were in good condtition.

Still a very cold winter here, but the light is back. Great weather today and hardpack on the forestroads. Could use my CX-bike and had a great 30 mile ride.

30.26 miles on the EZ Sport today. Clear skies, 36*F when I left the house, 40*F when I got home. Here's the bike at Braddocks Bay Park on one of the few areas of non snow covered grass.

First ride of the new year, today! It was ~ 35 F when I left the house in the 9 am hour. The temp was predicted to approach 50 F by mid-day. I haven't been on the bike since early December, and the advent of Black Ice on the unlit, 2-lane or less, curvy, hilly roads I ride on.
I went 4-5 miles to the library, where I'm using this here computer. I have to make a side trip on my way home that should bring my daily toatal into the 10-12 mile area.
So far, I've only had to dismount and walk up a hill once.
Kevin

March 6, yes, another beautiful day and I am still loving it.

I have got to step it up as I am only tracking at a 6727 mile year so far. Stopped at my LBS and bought a new Trek wired computer. My wireless Cateye was giving me a false reading for my Max. speed and didn't have cadence, the Trek does. Well maybe I was doing 71 mph on these long Florida down hills. Yes thats it, it was those down hills.

57 miles with a small group. It was chilly and windy but we avoided the rain. Oh, and 5900 feet of climbing.

Today I rode 27 mostly-rural miles - a beautiful sunny day with temp approaching 50F.
At one point, a large hawk was on top of a utility pole watching me ride by. That's better than buzzards circling overhead.

I did the Blossom Ride in Reedley, CA.
67.2 miles
4:15 ride time
4:32 overall
2480' of climbing
The weather wasn't the greatest, cool, wind and some light rain at the end.

68 miles on Skyline Drive. Only the middle section from Thornton Gap to Swift Run gap was open. I way, way, way overextended myself. I am pathetically out of shape for any decent amount of climbing. The Garmin measured just over 7000 feet.
It was colder up at the higher elevations than down in the valley. I had the balaclava and heavy gloves on. Mostly I did OK, but man I froze on the descents! The road was also covered in a mix of fine gravel, sand, and salt so I had to be very cautious cornering on the downhills. Also I didn't have nearly enough food for that long (timewise) of a ride. It took me 5.5 hours of ride time, and all I had all day was one Powerbar, one Trader Joes granola bar, and a small baggie of trail mix. I could seriously have used a GU (or five) during the last ten miles.
It's really shocking when something you could have done fairly comfortably when in really good shape almost pushes you to the limit. And not in a good way. I was riding up 4 and 5% grades in my 34/28 gear, and could barely turn the pedals over at times. I seriously considered thumbing a ride back down to the ride start, and I've never, ever done that.
I did enjoy myself for the most part. The day was gorgeous, if chilly, and the wind wasn't too bad. I'll just need to remind myself not to dive into the deep end of the pool next time...

I did 24 miles after I 18 holes on the golf course that finally opened after all the snow we have had.
The golf was bad and the ride was okay. Weatherman said into the 50's but it sure didn't feel like that to me.
To JimF22003....I think about Skyline drive a lot since I rode it last year and I can not imagine doing that this time of year. I would have thought it very cold up there and windy this time of year. It was windy here and up there must have been worse, maybe?
I agree with being out of shape too, I felt like that yesterday and I only did 24 miles. I was thinking last year when I was riding all the time the ride I did yesterday was a piece of cake. Not that I did bad but still not as easy as when I am in shape.

Today, the temperature was in the low 50's and sunny. This was the first hilly ride of the new year. Some where not up to it, since few do the mountains in the winter.. And We only did about 700 feet in altitude gain. I think we'll be favoring the hills almost every weekend from now on. In the Winter , the wind is often just too breezy for attacking the hills, particularly the descents.. It's almost Spring so time to start working on our mountain legs.
