Nice hokey pokey ride, granny. Yer singin my song. Missed my daily pathride today because of a dentist appointment mixup, so I took off on my night bike around the neighborhood at about 9:00pm. Got about an hour in, which is good exercise for me regardless of miles rode, speed, etc. Wind was gusting but the houses and trees blocked most of it. Cranked up the tunes cause it was so quiet and just enjoyed rolling forward with a cool breeze looking at all the big houses.

Got in a 35 mile ride between 7:15 and 9:20 AM. A 15 to 20 mph headwind killed the pace for the last 1/3 of the ride.

Today’s ride:

Rode with the Dick Davidson today, it was an excellent 62 + mile ride for me and 44 miles for Dick . I started at 5:30 this morning to get in some extra miles and possibly beat the rain that we were supposed to have today. I road about 18 miles before heading to the 436 trail head to meet with Dick Davidson at 7:00 AM. Our other riding partner Jim is off to North Carolina to ride the mountains for a month (lucky him). We did the normal ride to Panera Bread for breakfast and decided to ride through Heathrow and evaluate the weather to determine how far we would go. It was over cast but it didn’t look like rain so we decided to go all the way. It proved to be a good decision as it never rained a drop on us. It was a good ride today, and this is the highest mileage month that I have ever had.

I have reviewed my 2011 goal and reset my figures to 8,000 miles. I might have to re-evaluate that number again in September.
Ride statistics for: 06/28/2011
 Miles today: 62+
 Mileage this month May: 1039+
 Mileage this year: 5016 (62.7 % of my 2011 goal)
 Over/under riding days 2011 vs. 2010: +10
 Over/under riding days June 2011 vs. June 2010: +3
 Over/under miles 2011 vs. 2010: +1585 miles
 Average miles per ride this month: 51.9
 Average miles per ride this year: 42.1
 Number of rides over 50 miles this month/total ride days this mo. 13/20
 Metric Centuries this month: 5
 Miles needed to hit my 2011 goal of 8,000: 2983 miles, A 9/10 thousand mile year is not out of reach.
 I should reach my goal about mid October.

Tomorrow: Plan to ride weather permitting

Next ride: Wednesday

15.52 miles, checking on the "progress" of some of the area MUPS/Trails, alas as usual, not much or not ANY progress, SIGH! We've got lot's of trails but they don't connect and are only really good for a short "pretty" rec. ride. The force behind the trails, likes to beat their chest about "New Trails" but has NO funding for "upkeep" on the old trails and once they run into any easement or land problem, that's the DEATH of the trail, SAD. You all that have multi-long mile paved trails are VERY LUCKY indeed!!

I. to Dartmouth, Mass. There seems to be a pocket of rural roads with not too much traffic and with courteous drivers. Many roads are through wooded areas and thus shaded and cool even on very hot days.

The Narragansett Bay Wheelmen have many mapped rides in this area up to 50 to 100 miles so it is popular with cyclists. There are bike route markers all over the roads. These maps can be downloaded from the club web site. https://www.nbwclub.org/rides/maps.html
I often start and finish on the bike path it's also close to me, I'm in Riverside. One of my favorite rides, before they took apart the Sakonett river bridge, was Riverside to the Cape Cod canal and back. Total 110 miles. I have been riding the area you mention for 10 or 15 years. Probably my favorite area to ride. It's 30 miles from my house to Sakonett Point. Also one of my favorites. I spent a year or more riding from my house to Edaville Railroad and back with a friend. Arriving home about midnight or later. Riding to Horseneck beach and back is a nice ride too. I stopped going on NBW rides when I realized I have ridden all of the roads on their routes already many times. Some of them 10, 20, or even 30 times. I have painted the arrows for a couple of their rides.
I have mapped out a few of my ride routes to the canal on the Rubel Map of eastern Mass. I have ridden over both canal bridges. Right now I have to take 103 down to the Brightman St. Bridge (it may be under constrution now) to get over to the area from here. Take a ride up the Berkely Bridge to go over some day. Ride to Dighton Rock if you have not done it already. Miles Standish Is a good destination too. Don't get lost out there at night. It's tough to follow a map n the dark.

If you don't have the Rubel "road and bicycle map" of Eastern Mass get one, get the more expensive map, it's waterproof. I bought mine on line from Rubel.

Did 20 miles in stormy rain, wind, lightning etc. We only encountered the bad weather when we turned around and headed back to the starting point. If we'd keep chugging we might have outrun the storm.......until it was time to turn around.

25 miles of mostly climbing, which was my intent today. No speed work, no group ride, I was solo. I hit the back roads in old Fort Ord and tortured myself for over two hours. It felt so good! I did some bike setup fiddling, too, as I've been having discomfort issues as of late. I don't know what's changed, the bike or me! Anyway, it was almost 2800 feet of climbing, averaging just under 12 MPH, and did many 13% plus grades.

I wanted to get 11 miles in today because that would put me at the 300 mile mark for the month of June. I took it real easy because it was the hottest part of the day; 96 or 97 degrees. Southeast Texas humidity along with high temps can make any task dawnting. I ended up going 22 miles. Going to Key West for the 4th of July, so I am really glad I hit the 300 mile mark before leaving.

Yes, i rode today, 40 miles, wind all day, gusts up to 25mph, steady side/head wind both ways. Got sand blasted at the beach to day. Went through a hard wind that was whipping up whitecaps and blasting sand clouds in my path. Felt like i was on ice as the wind moved me sideways and felt like I had no traction for a short time. About 8 miles inland it calmed down but still wind. Sunny and about 74 degrees.

Not likely unless you have a condition such as hypoglycemis. Many of us ride 20-30 miles in the morning on no breakfast. Perhaps you have a flu like I did for several days and did not know it?

Isn't that what happens when you ride in the air - you get "Air" conditioned?

13 miles, hooked up on a little used trail, (Homestead Trail), the concrete was great the asphalt was like riding in a "mine field"!!! :O When I got home I did a complete "nut and bolt" tighten session, won't use that trail again!! A bit smoky from the fires that seem to be burning all around Colorado. Not all bad stopped at a Sonic and got a "All American Dog" and cherry sprite, YUM! ;D

Coming down with a cold and haven't ridden in two days. I hope I can get rid of it by Saturday as I was hoping to spend most of the three day weekend in the saddle.

My riding pattern continues with 30 miles in 1 hour and 40 minutes. Perfect weather today from 7 to 8:40am. Warm winds will bring hot weather for the next few days. I'll have to ride early.

Could not ride this morning, had to do the work thing early. However, the upside is I got home early. Managed to get 8 miles in before the skies opened up about 1.5 hours ago and is still raining. I think our rainy season has finally arrived!!!
