23 miles again today. Did better today than yesterday.
Dreading tomorrow. I have a FedEx package coming that needs a signature--so, to get a ride in and NOT take a chance on missing the delivery, I need to get going just before dawn tomorrow--haven't ridden that early in a while...hope I wake up in time.

Well, did the 23 and it wasn't too bad...although I would've preferred to sleep all the way until 5:30 AM...I woke up at 3:30AM and never went back to sleep. Guess it's time to crash on the couch while waiting for FedEx.

Rode Wednesday but felt lousy Thursday after the site meetings. The weather here is absolutely beautiful, highs in the mid 70F's and clear skies.

Did five miles before walking my 8 year old to the schoolbus this morning. After a long morning conference call got another 18 miles in on my new/old Titus road bike. My 62 year old body is a little cranky, but my brain feels great and I'm loving the feel of titanium on the road

I hope this morning was the last 'cold' ride to work for the year. (mid-30's at the start). 60's on the ride home so how can I complain? 21 commuting miles today.

I beat the rain drops and got in 28 hilly miles between 7:30 and 9:30am. The Cuyahoga National park has a dozen or so great climbs. Three of the toughest are Ira Rd, Oak Hill Rd, and Hines Hill Rd. I knocked them off as a series for about 1700 ft of climbing during the last 15 miles of my ride.
When I ride in Illinois, I need to cover about 200 miles of road to total that much vertical.

Did the Tour de Mesa today. I was off the bike for 52 seconds for a quick nature call. It was cold in the 40s and 50s, overcast with some rain. I was about froze when I got home and went straight into a long hot shower. You can see the stats...

NealH and I rode the Assault on the Carolinas today. It was a beautiful day for a ride though we seemed to have a headwind much of the day. 65.7 miles in 4:14 ride time and over 5000' of climbing. Funny that the 3 Garmin 800s we checked had total elevation gains from 5600' to mine at 5060'. The ride organization claims 5600'. My 800 always reads low.

We did the Tierra Bella 100K on the tandem, 3500' of climbing with one real climb and a lot of rollers. This is not a tandem-friendly situation, but all things considered we did great with a 4:22 riding time. I had been really sweating the weather given the 3-4 stormy days leading up to the ride, but things cleared overnight and the weather was just fine, not getting over 65 deg or so at the end.
This ride, out of Gilroy, CA, has great rest stops with their specialty being home-made breads and baked red-skinned potatoes. The potatoes are so good it's a wonder we got out of the first rest stop. The ride also has more customary fare.

Not exactly. The CCRT is 22 miles from Dennis to the end at Lecount Hollow Rd in Wellfleet. By car from there to P-town it is about 15 miles, so depending on the route by bike it might be 20, certainly under 25. The trick is to find the best, safe route.

got 15 or so miles in today on the Roberts bike with new parts. Got some nice comments from a car load of kids asking me if it was a 12 speed. I told em it was 16 thanks to my friends gift of Ultegra and Spinergy wheels.

Don't mince words
The last 3 days have featured turbulent weather, culminating with t-storms and hail (two separate storms) yesterday. Whoo-hoo! Love to see it, hate riding in it ('06 Solvang Century). So I was on the trainer Tues/Wed/Thurs. And while that counts for 30 days of biking, it's not my favorite way to ride.
So today was sunny, mild, lightly breezy, blue skies, puffy cumulus clouds, and intense green everywhere. After work and chores were done, about 3, I was going to take a nap, and decided a bike ride was in order.
Indeed, it put perspective and fun back into my day.

This is a combination of a cue sheet ride from Potomac Pedalers, and a section I made up myself. The PP section was all on completely new-to-me roads, which I like. Highlight was hitting the Barbecue Competition and festival in Mt. Airy. Slow-rolling my bike through the crowds for 15 minutes really knocked my average pace down though
This was just short of a 200K ride. I am really wasted this morning. I don't understand how somebody could do a double century. Really. I had to take a final rest break at about mile 108 even though I was only 14 miles from the end. I did get a bit of a second wind after that and made it OK to the end, but I was really suffering there. Worst part was I was very nauseated. I almost threw up just trying to slide down a GU. I couldn't have taken in solid food if I wanted to.
It's supposed to be in the mid-80s and windy today. I'd planned to do another ride today, but I'm not sure I could handle it...

A group met at the bike shop this morning for the ride up the mountain. NealH and I joined them with the idea of stretching out the legs from yesterday's hard ride. Of course riding up 4000' over 20 miles isn't an ideal plan for an easy day and one we would bail on after 15 miles. We had enough fun after climbing 2500' and Neal had to head home. Beautiful day for a ride though and it was wonderfully cool and breezy at elevation.
