53 mile club ride this morning on the Screamer with my favorite stoker. The ride description said 'mostly flat' and I suppose that was true but there were hills. And cornfields.

Which way did you go at that intersection?

You want cornfields? From our 40.45 yesterday:

Did a flat century (700") yesterday on my fixed gear. Hot and humid in Katy, TX outside of Houston. 18.6 for the first 73 miles and then the "fun" went away. Averaged 17.7. Suffering today for my "joy" of yesterday.

21 miles today on a bike a buddy lent me. It's a Cannondale carbon luqigas supersix. This bike was the last model that was made in America. I don't deal with many hills but this bike was much easier to climb then my current aluminum Trek 1200. It also has index gear shifting which is nice. I'll have the bike all week so it should be interesting.

It's a lot of old pavement.......
it's a litle bit of mud and sand...
totally empty, just the sound of river in the air.
maybe see a deer or two....
maybe shock a sleeping owl
cruising right along just fine......

ooopps - where'd the road go 'n hide

Congrats on the effort.
Here in Seattle our heat wave finally broke. It was the 2nd longest heat wave since records have been kept. In Seattle, we had 12 consecutive days above 80 degrees F, and 3 of them were 90 or more. Thankfully the humidity was less than 50% during the day. Glad we survived.

Didn't think I was going to get a ride in today but managed a nice 44 mile ride this morning mid 70º temps and overcast skies. Not sure about a ride tomorrow, then it's off to Alaska for a week. I know I'll have at least one ride there.

170 miles over the past 7 days between the Allez and the Roubaix. Streets past the marina (yes, there's a marina in Sparks (Reno), Nevada, used to be a rock quarry, now it's a large pond with expensive condos around it) up the separated bike lane on Sparks Blvd (more like a fwy) to the bike path along the Truckee River. About 15 miles from home and back. I like the triple (Allez) but getting used to the double (Roubaix).
In the pic: this is one of the few stretches of the bike path that's not full of cracks.

38 miles today on a borrowed bike I was thinking of purchasing. My back and the bike did not get along. I took my current bike to LBS and got refit. Hopefully my hand issues and back issues will go away.

Did the usual 26 mile "Arlington Loop" down to DC last night, which I normally wouldn't post here, except that I passed a rider wearing a 50+ jersey coming down the hill toward Roslyn on the Custis Trail as I was going up. Was that one of you??

I rode 38 miles with our regular group last night. Legs felt decent after doing 400+ miles last week.

Rain ride! After retiring my regular ride to back-up and rain-duty only [two weeks ago].... today was my first deliberate rain ride. It was a short 10 mile ride. But I really enjoyed it.

16 miles in a shortened ride due to bad storm with lots of lightning. Bought my lovely wife a new Cannondale road bike from the LBS. Hopefully we will be riding partners in the future.

Jim and bozette congrats on your centuries. Both very impressive!

Did unique short ride today. Friend and I decided to do an "easy" ride. Not sure what we intended. Did only 25 miles and can say my heart rate was 128-130 or quite low for me. We held a pace of 17 - 18 for much of trip averaging over 16 due to heavy rains and few stops. Never felt tired in any way.

Believe this is a pace we can hold for a planned century. Normally we would be pushing each other and averaging 17.5. Have others experiences with a nice and easy ride?

Thanks "M.B.". Did 2:10 hours on the trainer yesterday watching the Tour. I was keeping effort/heart rate in lower endurance zone except when the race would get exciting I would get carried away and start riding harder, catch myself and get HR back down!
